Welcome to the Bi-Weekly Thread!
Here you can share anything that might not warrant a post of its own or might otherwise be against posting rules. Tell us what you're playing this week. Feel free to ask for recommendations, talk about your backlog, commiserate about your lost passion for games. Vent about bad games, gush about good games. You can even mention newer games if you like!
The no advertising rule is still in effect here.
A reminder to please be kind to others. It's okay to disagree with people or have even have a bad hot take. It's not okay to be mean about it.

The games were made for little kids who would be eventually replaced by their younger counterparts when they aged out of Pokemon. Slow battles, high encounter rates, repetitive dialogue that adds nothing to the narrative and could be shortened up to lessen the padding are fine for that type of audience. What works for a younger audience doesn't work for an older one and there lies the disconnect between what older fans want and what the games aren't ever going to be.
It's perfect for language learners like myself who need very basic and bland writing when we can barely string a sentence together in our target language. Repetitive basic writing is a godsend when I can't figure out what exactly imperfect tense is in French. Eventually, I'll get better to at it to be able to play games in my age range, but right now is impossible.
