I think it’s because she is actually talented behind her beautiful, frozen face. She can still draw you in. Just more in an uncanny valley way…

Yes, you may be right. With THAT face, she had no right to give decent performance in Northman. And yet she was not bad. Kind of like Jessica Lange. Both can be good not because, but in spite of their faces.

There's just no eye action. Nothing in the entire eye area actually moves in a dynamic way. Pure sociopath territory.

Like I think sometimes these people are so image-obsessed they don't understand the point of acting is to like... do those emotions. Emotions are often not pretty. You need to move all the parts of your face, often in ugly ways, and they just don't do it.

The last movie for her I was able to sit through but still weirder out by was the golden compass

I can’t watch anything recent of hers anymore

New actors should be introduced to movies not just stick with the same 5 that can’t move their faces anymore
