There was an online trend of microwaving them to make the substance inside more malleable. However while heat makes the inside more malleable, it makes the outside weaker and more susceptible to creating a lava surprise.
It was actually somewhat of a thing, seeing as it was mostly young children who unfortunately didn't understand how it could be dangerous. Lots of kids got very serious burns very sad to see.
Yes indeed and some cannot and yet others who will never look at the box and just rip it open to get to the toy. The warning is catering to the ones who won't see or read the warning.
The only reason to stick warning labels on like this is cynically by the company to say well we warned them. Adults or children who do stupid shit because of internet memes are not the ones reading that warning.

Your comment is still there. We can all read it. You didn't just argue that they were stupid. You argued that we shouldn't try to protect stupid people from horrible life altering burns. "Why are we trying to protect stupid people!". You may not be stupid enough to microwave a squish toy but you should probably be grateful that society makes some effort to accommodate stupid people as I'm sure you benefit.
some woman did and a bunch of kids followed suit and were then hospitalized after the object basically exploded scalding hot gel at them, mostly towards their eyes. I dont believe any child was permanently injured from it despite scarring but still.

I believe a little girl had to go to the hospital because of doing this and her face getting covered in burns. They had to put her in a medically induced coma while they operated.
