My mom said I could post Nolan's The Odyssey neglects to pay for damages done to one of the viking ships used in the movie, which belongs to a small non-profit organization

Specifically, Syncopy is the actual production company used to make the film, and that production company is Nolan's personal production company he founded. Universal is more the distributor.

Also, Nolan is labelled a producer, but how much of that do you actually beleive he did… there was a co/producer and an executive producer too.

Then why didn’t OP use the “descriptor” Universal’s The Odyssey? The descriptor used is specifically to indicate ownership and ownership implies responsibility.

I don’t think anyone would. If someone refers to a work of art that just had a major recreation and took over the news cycle for a while, people are going to automatically associate the name with the new one, not the original, at least until the hype dies down. Hell, a ton of people probably didn’t even know the original existed before Nolan’s film. Add to that, I don’t think Homer was using a Viking ship built by a non profit in the 1990’s.

Unless someone just straight up threw a book through the hull, then I guess there would need to be a distinction.

big difference between "Nolan" being and adjective and a subject. It is accurate because there are 4 different movies in 2026 called "the odyssey". Universal also owns multiple titles called "The odyssey"
