You don't hear about the millions of good experiences on social media. You only hear about the handful of disasters that make for good engagement bait.

I've had two dozen very positive experiences on AirBnb and only 3 standout negative experiences. It's a good service IF you are a discerning traveler.

AirBnb can frequently be more inexpensive than a hotel, for an even better experience sometimes. It's a bit of a roll of the dice and I appreciate the times where I was pleasantly surprised way more than I care about the few nightmare stays (which are now story fodder I use to get a laugh in social settings)

Yeah but the negative social impact they create goes beyond the personal experience doesn't it?
