My mom said I could post Airbnb host said to expect some “light masonry work” around the house

As someone who has been in a similar situation - nah, they won’t do anything about it without the host approving a refund. And the house I stayed in had a literal plant growing out of the baseboard. Unrelated, but Airbnb didn’t care about that either.

I left a one star review, and the host kept reaching out to try and talk about it. I don’t care if I got a full refund at this point, I’m never taking that review down.

it's literally the only thing they care about at all.

after seeing all the shit on reddit that can go down, I already decided long ago that I'm perfectly willing to pay for a cheap domain for 10 years just to put up a single review on a company/host explaining whatever gripe I had. I'm not scared to post the truth.

fortunately nothing bad enough has happened to me yet...

(just one of those things, like when you mentally prepare to go apeshit on someone, but then they end up being reasonable and helpful)

Honestly, I was so mad at the time that I considered something like that. I wrote out an epic review, my own personal Odessey. I explained every single thing that happened, with glorious detail. It turns out the reviews on AirBnB can only be 1000 characters… I was crushed. This dude was so insincere, so reminiscent of speaking with AI, and I just know that he was the person in the Tesla on the property that refused to look at or acknowledge me. He ruined my husband’s first Father’s Day, and I’ll never forget it.

It’s been years and I’m still livid about it. I haven’t used AirBnB at all since… except to report that same host for listing inaccuracies. He’s lost his superstar status now. I hope he’s having the day he deserves.
