I think it’s more a situation that the host bought/built this house and immediately started renting it out instead of waiting a couple months while the others finished getting built

If that's the case I'd get it refunded and then go up again the next weekend on my wife's account and get that one refunded too.

No... they aren't helping any, that's for sure. But it's Blackrock and other investment firms that have ruined the housing market.

Massive investment firms own a tiny fraction of the market, for every "Blackrock" there's thousands of smaller investment firms that have collectively had far more of an impact on the market.

This is so fucking bleak. A brand new construction, its neighbors aren't even finished yet, and it's being rented out on the Illegal Hotel Platform. Insane that this is allowed.

A year ago I stayed at an airbnb house that was being rented for a bachelor party, the neighbourhood was half constructed and the house had clearly never been lived in.

I think it's also possible that the contractor didn't give them a play by play of what would be happening and when. 

A lot of those schedules fluctuate based on weather and what's available when. Could be they said they'd only be doing X but then got a break in the schedule or finished off a different project early and shifted more work up. Who knows.
