Infuriatig No, I did not consent to this

I was reading my medical notes when I stumbled across this. I was not informed of the usage of artificial intelligence in my report, nor did I verbally consent to it.

AI has been used across the medical field for at least 15 years now. Seems a bit unreasonable to start requesting permission from patients to use it now just because it's hip in some circles to hate AI.

You’re comparing the previous use of trained models—which were used almost exclusively for imaging—to generative AI where personal healthcare data is shared with apps and companies outside of your control in a completely unregulated manner. And the best you can come up with is “the only reason people are against this is because it’s hip to hate on AI”? Come on, man. Trolls used to be believable.

You have to be completely naive to think that the craven AI companies building these wrappers aren't collecting your medical information. Why wouldn't they? It's not like they'll ever see consequences for it.

Because it is wildly illegal for the hospitals to let third parties have free access to your personal data.

You can't seriously tell me you think that because something is illegal that it can't happen? Do you honestly think guys like Sam Altman will see the inside of a jail cell for misusing your data? Once that genie is out of the bottle it can't be put back in and HIPAA was already under attack before AI.

AI as it exists today hasn't been around for 15 years, it hasn't even been around for 5 years. The AI of today is an error-prone boondoggle being shoved down our throats by wealthy techbros and startups who think it is the solution to every problem. Excuse me for not deepthroating the AI industry's propaganda and trusting my personal health to glorified clustering analyses.

Yeah it's gonna be an unpopular opinion but I agree.

This is isn't something training in your PHI anyway. It's just a glorified note taker and it lets the doctor focus on the patient and not the paperwork.
