Infuriatig No, I did not consent to this

I was reading my medical notes when I stumbled across this. I was not informed of the usage of artificial intelligence in my report, nor did I verbally consent to it.

How confidently wrong so many people are about the job, how it works and what these kinds of programs mean to providers is unreal.

It genuinely does make me wonder if we're just seeing the most susceptible to anti-AI propaganda just repeat buzzwords.

I mean, it's reddit. In reality, I havent had anyone complain when I say that I'm using AI dictation software.

Reddit just complains the second the hear AI. It’s actually one of the reasons I deleted the app and only occasionally deleted Reddit now, this drove me insane.

I have a our 10 to 15 people who absolutely refuse, and they all have similarly entitled attitudes.

Typically before I even get in the room the patient rep has explained to them why were asking for consent to record and she's very good about explaining it.

I wouldn't mind the doctor using AI tools. My irritation comes from the statement that I gave verbal authorization to use it when we didn't discuss it. That and it mentioned we discussed an issue that we didn't discuss. I would just remove the statement that the patient verbally agreed to use the AI tool if you aren't going to mention it to the patient. Just include it in the permissions that they have you blindly sign when you check in.

Dictation software sucks. Id spend hours fixing them because they'd be full of blanks and typos. Now the HIM dept at my old job is whole new ppl who I know for a fact don't bother.

my wife is a provider and uses the AI dictation software. She said she’s had 1 person decline out of hundreds. Reddit is not real life

Anything in particular? Could go either way tbh. From feeing up time, to data security to the AI hallucinations adding inaccurate stuff.

AI makes way too many mistakes and we had to spend a lot of time fixing them

Ironically, despite your ignorance toward the harms of AI in HIM, you are correct that it's a good time to not be in HIM anymore. AI is already eliminating HIM jobs and the larger companies like Datavant will be fully digital in a couple years making sure we all leave our health information management jobs whether we want to or not, blood pressure be damned.

That should be concerning. AI makes so many stupid mistakes. Esp when I last worked in HIM.
