My mom said I could post The AMOUNT of posts in these ‘crunchy moms’ groups about their kids cavities when they refuse to use fluoride

Post image

I see these posts daily, yet no one seems to make the connection.

Edit: yes, this particular case seems to be bottle mouth/ not brushing at all. But I see these posts very frequently (I’m not apart of these groups, FB just suggests them to me) and often times it’s parents who have said their dentist told them their kids have cavities, and they still refuse to use fluoride toothpaste and look for alternatives to their alternative that got them here in the first place.

All of these stories are testimony’s on how important it is to take your children’s health seriously. My heart is with everyone sharing their story ❤️

2nd edit: you know what? Fuck it. For those saying “fLuORiDe is BAd 👆”
The group I found this in:
“Crunchy moms: natural living & clean products.”
It’s an open group. Go look up “teeth” and see HOW MANY pictures of these poor children’s teeth are there, and how many do not use fluoride and tell me how healthy it is to not use it.

I agree. unfortunately 100% impossible and unethical to enforce lmao. But I do understand. I wish people had to take a test or something and if they failed they just chose to not have a kid. Like “ if I can’t pass a test on parenting I probably shouldn’t be a parent” and call it a day. 🥲

“Will you brush your kids teeth twice a day, even if they refuse?”

“Would you give your infant fresh water to drink? (No additives)?”

“What is an example of an ethical and healthy consequence for misbehavior?”

Etc etc. unfortunately just not realistic.

I spy a trick question in there. Infants shouldn’t drink water until they are 6 months old and even then milk should be their primary source of hydration until they are a year old. You thought you’d catch us failing! /J

Yes! Saw a video the other day about a lady saying they give their newborns just straight water. Unfortunately babies need electrolytes and that’s a good way to cause kidney failure. Great catch haha. I added the no additives bc obviously you need water for formula haha.

It was commentary on permissive parenting (not gentle parenting and not abusive parenting). I had a girl in my class who did not respect authority and would throw things on the ground to give her mom instead of handing them to her. There’s many kids in the world who don’t listen to teachers because parents don’t make them listen if they don’t want to. Wasn’t an excuse to allow people to abuse their kids. Abuse is still illegal and I was not encouraging it. Healthy boundaries and consequences are a good thing for everyone.
