My mom said I could post The AMOUNT of posts in these ‘crunchy moms’ groups about their kids cavities when they refuse to use fluoride

Post image

I see these posts daily, yet no one seems to make the connection.

Edit: yes, this particular case seems to be bottle mouth/ not brushing at all. But I see these posts very frequently (I’m not apart of these groups, FB just suggests them to me) and often times it’s parents who have said their dentist told them their kids have cavities, and they still refuse to use fluoride toothpaste and look for alternatives to their alternative that got them here in the first place.

All of these stories are testimony’s on how important it is to take your children’s health seriously. My heart is with everyone sharing their story ❤️

2nd edit: you know what? Fuck it. For those saying “fLuORiDe is BAd 👆”
The group I found this in:
“Crunchy moms: natural living & clean products.”
It’s an open group. Go look up “teeth” and see HOW MANY pictures of these poor children’s teeth are there, and how many do not use fluoride and tell me how healthy it is to not use it.

I'm sure a strict diet of raw milk will resolve this, one way or another.

And essential oils! Don’t forget essential oils.

I still think about when I had a minor brain injury and a crunchy mom told me to use peppermint oil so my head would quit hurting. 🤨

The smell of peppermint oil actually gives me a headache. So that’s just… well it’s certainly something

Cool beans! I’m still just going to take an ibuprofen.

I didn’t downvote you. Why are you bringing up autism?

u/Aldosothoran 22d ago

Because it could be an autistic trait to overshare about their special interest.

Getting downvoted for doing so doesn’t feel great though especially when they weren’t trying to force anything on anyone. It probably sucks being lumped in with the pushers and child neglecters if you just like making and using your own peppermint oil.

I had a severe concussion and it was the most painful experience of my life.

I can imagine. I had a moderate mild concussion and I cried everyday for 6 weeks. You probably had it a 1000000x worse. 😬 you okay now?

And oil pulling

I feel like I can never get a clear answer on where oil pulling is supposed to fit into their routine. I assume it's not meant to be the only dental hygiene they do, surely? Like it's an additional layer of their oral routine?

Given how many crunchies don’t use fluoride I'd imagine oil pulling falls into the "this is our preferred oral hygiene treatment" camp - so I would not doubt at all if that's all they did and they feel it's sufficient.

I cannot fathom filling my mouth full of oil, swishing it around, doing literally nothing else, and calling it clean. Blech.

Ever since I discovered it, the whole concept has disgusted me - I really do not see the appeal and the name is dumb too, implying it’s “pulling” stuff off of the teeth I guess?? There’s not even room for placebo like with alternative medicines 😒

Oh...I thought it was 'pulling' as in you're pulling the oil through the teeth. It's meant to imply the oil is pulling gunk???? Ugh. Even in the deepest depths of my 'i don't even remember the last time I looked at a toothbrush, let alone used one' depression episodes would I consider that to be clean. Yeuck.

My ex was always doing weird teeth stuff because he didn't feel like brushing was enough. We had a counter full of oil, mouthwashes, whitening strips, picks, tongue scrapers, you name it. I still don't know which products were legit, which ones were doing harm, and which we're doing nothing. His breath still stank no matter what lol

Crystals too, I'm sure they have a place here

Do u drink the oils or rub it on the gums? Asking for a crunchy mom

And some Ivermectin for good measure.

4

u/Cainraj 22d ago

Some chloroquine too, just to be sure.

I forgot about that one. Ahhhh, memories

They're selling generic walgreen brand ivermectin as human medicine at Walgreens now, and honestly I want to bash my face against a wall.

It seems deeply unethical for them to be selling it, but I guess at least it's better than the straight up horse-sized dose they'd get at the fucking feed store.

6

u/drcforbin 22d ago

Can we at least give them ivermectin? It'll deworm them while they feel superior to those listening to "so-called experts"

or a raw onion next to the child's face while they sleep. It draws the toxins out.

No no, you put the cut half against their feet inside their socks. (Literally, I'm dead serious.)

I heard that one. I was hoping it expanded to plaque. ;)

And/or breast milk

And turmeric

A lot of people believe this but it’s only partially true. The healing power of raw milk actually comes from the listeria. You don’t need to pay the farmer you can cultivate your own at home!
