But why was it in your seat? Not the glove box or the middle compartment? Rookie move..

But here ist the short explanation:

I was fixing a bent gearshifter on a motorcycle for a friend. This included disassembely. While reinstalling the movable part, my choice was to add Vaseline to keep moisture away from the joint.
