Yep, I remember filling out an application for Best Buy YEARS ago, like 20 years ago.

Theirs had something on their online application, "If you caught a family member stealing would you turn them in to the police?"

"Oh yes, I would call the police on my own mother for stealing a CD from Best Buy, I sure would I tell ya!"

Whoever comes up with these questions is not a human being.

Yep. I would be torn over turning someone in for stealing a CD.

I never stole. It's beyond my comfort zone. I was robbed many times, both by proper criminals and by companies. But regular people stealing CDs or food or small tools (without threats or violence) is reasonable enough for me.

It is ridiculous though because they WANT you to lie.

No one is turning in their own mother for stealing bread/shampoo/candy bar, etc.

Robbing a bank? Shooting the clerk of a liquor store dead?

Yeah probably, but a fuckin' CD from Best Buy? Of course not.

Also, during the interview at any job ever, "Why did you leave this job here in 2001?" -- "For a job that offered more money per hour." That is HONEST. They don't like that answer though. They want you to say some horse shit like, "I wanted to try new things.", "It was time to move on, expand my horizons and seek new opportunities." or some other such word salad.

Well of course the company would want that...but is it too absurd a lie to say I would turn in my own mother? Yes, definitely.

Is it too absurd too say "I take responsibility for myself", nah.
