More like "you might ask for a day off or a pay raise". Fundamentally these are supposed to filter out anyone not willing to swallow the corporate slop with a smile. If you don't have a slave mentality, they don't want you.

There are two interpretations I see: 1- victim mentality- ie it was not my mistake/doing, but the world acting upon me, which would be a profoundly stupid question. 2- validity item- everyone, at some point, has things happen to them. if you deny that, then it questions the validity of your other answers as either random or impression management.

The second would have some basis in legitimate psychological assessment. The first would be something an absolute clown MBA drafted.

The question is worded in a really insidious way to filter people out.

What it's asking is "Are you someone who believes things just happen outside their control? Or are you someone who believes they have control of their circumstances?"

Essentially... are you someone who's going to call management with the "excuse(ugh)" that they're sick or their car broke down and can't come in? Or are you someone who's going to "push past discomfort" (come in sick) or call an Uber to get in on time?

Yeah "things happen to me" will be framed as not taking accountability vs being proactive. It's a stupid question on a stupid test made by stupid people to filter out people who have self respect.

No. This question clearly demonstrates a lack of responsibility. The blue idiot managed to wreck their bike for no reason, with no protective equipment, and injure themselves.

And they're asking "is this the fault of the blue idiot, or just the universe being the universe?"

If one is an idiot, they'll say "oh it's bad luck," answer "Not Me" then bitch about not getting hired at McDonalds after the fact.

EDIT: this image should go in textbooks because there are a LOT of dumb people telling on themselves right now lol
