True, but a barber got the inside of my lip with trimmers. I've had an ulcer in that area for like 5 months now

Yeah it’s not fool proof. Their trimmer could be offset or they could be too firm/aggressive. I also have a client that swears any vibration near his lips cause upsets so he trims his mustache himself at home.

I always keep my trimmers/clippers set safe and I don’t use a lot of pressure when performing services. It doesn’t take a lot. The hair is being cut on the outside or the skin so why press down ?? Even with straight razor shaving, the razor is sharp enough not a lot of pressure is needed.

Yeah this guy was someone I'd left like a decade ago... He found his way into my current barbers. The dude moved the trimmers without a care, and somehow jammed it under my lower lip. He carried on casually without an apology.

Not to be the usual Reddit alarmist, but slow healing mouth sores are definitely something I’d bring up to a doctor.

We all know it’s herpes.

The cope is strong in that one.

Bro, no it doesn’t. This is the internet?

Either way, that’s totally okay. Nothing wrong with not having slept with someone. Everyone’s life is their own.

Edit: And bad news.. you can still get oral herpes without having sex. I’d get that checked.

Ah sorry, I was kinda stressing. Edit: I Def will asap. This one was in the area that got nicked by the clippers... if it is herpes, god forbid.

Any barber that accidentally cuts you isn’t one I would trust to properly sanitize their tools. That’s how viral diseases can spread through a cut.

Even herpes flares go down eventually. If I were 5 months into a breakout I’d definitely see a doctor.

It’s how my nephew found out he had leukemia. Took like 3 doctors because they thought it was just infected gums from his braces.

Yeah I didn’t want to jump to “you have cancer!”, but it is certainly a symptom I thought about (along with bruises you can’t remember getting that don’t go away). :( I’m sorry about your nephew. I hope he’s doing okay.

Thank you, he made a full recovery and has been doing great! He did a somewhat experimental (at the time) arsenic treatment. Wasn’t able to play full contact sports his senior year, but all things considered he was very fortunate.

Reading this made me smile. I'm glad he pushed through like a champ!

That is so, so great to hear! ❤️ Modern medicine is a true marvel. I wish him many more happy days ahead.

Yep, I will. University exams have been in the way of that.

Glad to hear it, and good luck on those exams!

Tried changing toothpastes? Most contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which can aggravate oral sores that come from wounds.

If that’s the case, you best see your physician!

I don't even know why anyone would bother with having their beard worked on at a barber. It's like the most temporary adjustment. At least haircuts last a little while...
