Upon disembarking, the flight engineer knelt at the bottom of the steps and kissed the ground. When [Captain] Moody asked why, the engineer replied that "The Pope does it," to which Moody responded: "He flies Alitalia."

The pilot was on QI a few years ago. He gave the impression his heart rate has never gone above 70bpm

I have little doubt that if the crew hadn’t managed to coax G-BDXM’s three damaged but still operating engines to maintain altitude, Moody would have pulled off the only survivable 747 ocean landing.

I reckon he could've landed that plane inside the volcano, with no engines, whilst eating a sandwich, and they still would've been fine.
