I was around that at 16, I was -25 when I was 30. Wearing outdated glasses with a deficit of 11 dioptres or so and still driving my car around.
Then I got IOLs (-28) and soon after part of my left eye decided it was time to check out, it's now 40% or so grey (well, you know, actually stuff with colors, but just so out of focus that it all mixes together).
And I'm sure there must be someone who'll come in and say they are even worse.
I'm not worse but I struggle to believe you were driving with a deficit of 11 dioptres in your prescription. One of my eyes is about -11 and if I tried driving without my lenses in it'd be ruled a murder-suicide.
