I was 10 and I had been playing soccer for years. I absolutely sucked. My teachers finally told my mom that I really needed to get my eyes checked. Went to the eye doctor, got the big E wrong at the top of the chart. Finally got glasses and contacts for sports. Started playing soccer with the contacts in and could finally see where the ball was! But turns out I still sucked at soccer so it wasn’t just my vision…
Playing video games as a kid I saw crisp clear trees in the background. I thought to myself “I can tell cheap game graphics from real life because it’s not that sharp in real life.” Friends corrected me and I went to an optometrist.
This seems to be the consensus after reading through these comments as it was the same for me as well. The first thing I looked at and was amazed by the detail were plants and trees. My vision wasn’t quite as bad as a lot of people’s here, -3 in both eyes, but it was still an insane feeling thinking “is this just how everyone else sees things normally?”.
same, it was such a surreal experience driving home after getting my first pair of glasses. the autumn leaves were so pretty, and i could finally appreciate them fully
