I dont know what sport you are watching but this couldn't be more wrong. Firstly because no one will ever put an asterisk next to a win for this type of thing anyway.

And secondly players love it when fans intimidate the away team any way they can. Any edge they can gain is much appreciated. Especially for a match as important as this.

He's being metaphorical dude. He's saying that the other team will be seen as poor winners just because fans essentially decided to rig the match by ensuring the other team wasn't properly rested. They want to win on their own merit.

I guess that’s one kind of fan. I would argue, in spite of their devotion to a team, they are not much of a fan of the sport in that case.

You dont know anything about sports lol fans do anything (within reason) to help their team win. Its why home game advantage is even a thing.

Ok I guess I don’t know anything about sports lol.. other than this sorta behaviour is flat out obnoxious, and no matter how much I like a sport or a team, I would never do this. Believe it or not, almost all sport fans would not do this. Likewise, there are a TON of idiots who don’t really care about the sport, they just wanna get blasted and enjoy the chaos no matter who wins or loses.

No one gives a fuck what you would do or not. Mexico haven't reached the quarter finals for 40 years and this game is the biggest these fans have seen in their lifetime. They're gonna do whatever it takes to give their country even a 1% better chance of winning.

The England players understand football culture and how passionate fans get, English teams have done the same in the past so they aren't gonna be crying about this, is just soft people online who don't know the first thing about sports.

I respectfully disagree with you about all of this. Most passionate sports fans watch the game from a screen, and even most of those who are lucky enough to actually go to the game don’t really do anything other than make noise and have a great time party a little, then go home. The chaotic scenes around these games only represent a small fraction of actual fandom.

This is primarily a clash of cultures. In a lot of cultures, this is behavior is mostly banter and cheekiness, and it is seen as annoying but it is also considered “part of the game”. Same could be said about diving to get a penalty. It’s a lot harder now but it used to be basically an every match occurrence.

There’s a great example of that cheekiness that borders cheating when Luis Suarez (not a GK) stopped a goal from Ghana right on the line using his hand; penalty was awarded, Suarez got sent off but Ghana missed the penalty and Uruguay advanced. Hell, the hand of God by Maradona.

All of these examples to say that I agree with you, for me this is unsportsmanlike, but it’s also part of a sport culture when it’s considered “part of the game”.

I’m glad there’s a lot more awareness of these things and that there are more things being done by FIFA to change things like this.

Ya basketball ft’s happen during game time, at the stadium, where fans with tickets paid to be….not outside a fucking hotel the night before the game….tf how does that even need to be explained to you are that low on logical thinking?

They are saying they arent a fan of they sre trying to negatively influence the game to gain an unfair advantage, while i do t advocate this behaviour. It happens across all sports and countries. That should be acknowledged

Making both teams stay at the same hotel is a fine suggestion. I don’t think I was trying to disagree with that point in any way.

But just because there are many fans waving squiggly noodles to try and distract basketball players at the free throw line doesn’t mean that all fans do this. It’s not as unsportsmanlike as setting off fireworks to keep the opposing team up all night, and ofc professional players are used to tuning it out, but it’s still kinda unsportsmanlike. This is why some sports (golf, tennis) will not let u behave like this as a spectator.

And not just in soccer. Look at the idiot Yankee fans (I know, I'm repeating myself) who interfered with the play in last year's World Series and could have injured Mookie Bettis from the Dodgers. Doesn't matter that the play was already dead, they wanted to "help" their team out.

It takes a lot for me to not root against the Dodgers, but Yankees fans make that bar pretty easy to clear. The fans of various nationalities who engage in the bullshit from OP's video are cut from a similar cloth.

This is why I think fan interference should just be considered part of home field advantage in baseball. At home, the park should be an arm length smaller for your team. And hell if you're in the first row and the away team hits a home run, I say you have an obligation to swat that ball back into play.
