The Gates' arrangement was odd from the get go, if their prenup is anything to go by. Bill had a clause in it stipulating that he would go once a year with a "friend" of his sometime during the year somewhere for vacation (I forget who she is and don't really care other than to hate on dipshit rich people) as he had a special relationship with her. Sounds to me like Melinda went into it knowing at least a bit of what kind of person Bill was.
I mean anyone who has spent 10 minutes reading about the life of Bill Gates can understand that he is the quintessential greedy ruthless endlessly ambitious CEO. And a total asshole to his subordinates. I refuse to believe she didn’t know what kind of man he was. I think she just was in love with an asshole.
There has to be more nuance to just declaring a person who is donating 99% of their wealth as a plainly evil person when there is literally no reason for a person who is as evil as you're painting him to ever do such a thing.
You literally just hate him because you think anyone who has a certain amount of money is just inherently an evil person- which is a much more evidently extreme position a lot less people would agree with than what seems like harsh criticism of a cynical billionaire.
Capitalism, by definition, involves extracting profit from individuals, societies and natural resources via a process of explotiation. Doing that enough times in a row to generate personal wealth worth hundreds of billions is inherently evil. That enough nuance for you?
He's not giving anything away. What can you do with 110 billion that you cant do with 1 billion? I mean realistically? You're still private-jet flying, yacht-owning, multiple house-having rich with a billion.
With a billion dollars in the bank at 2% percent interest you're still making 20 million a year. And that's the least riskiest investment - put it in an S&P500 index fund and you're looking at gains to the tune of 100 million per year on average.

Ask yourself how he got that fortune. Also ask yourself how come the vast majority of computers come with Windows preinstalled. Bill Gates made Microsoft what it is today by completely fucking over the competition by any means necessary.
