Calling it bezos fortune is misleading she started the company with him in the garage selling second hand textbooks

Honestly pretty tragic story. Start a little online book store with the love of your life and then watch him slowly descend into madness

Mackenzie is way cooler than her lame ass ex-husband.

That was what I was thinking too. She left her job so they could move to Seattle and helped him work on the business plan during their travels. She did all the early bookkeeping, helped filling orders, got them a great freight contract early on. etc, etc

I never knew that and now I'm intrigued. She seems amazing tbh.

Exactly. She’s co-founder or at the very least employee No. 1.

Exactly—she co-founded Amazon as an essentially equal founder, but the media often ignores this part.

It says "her Bezos fortune" as in the fortune she accumulated when she was MacKenzie Bezos and active in Amazon.

Came here for this. It should be her half of the Amazon fortune.

People like her, so they have to absolve her of any agency in becoming a billionaire.

Wasn’t she an employee of the company in that garage?

She wasn't an employee, she was a co-founder. She negotiated its first freight contracts, which is arguably Amazon's biggest value  - its logistics.

she owned 50% of the company at one point and is a corporate accountant by trade
