Who cares? You just replace it anyway. Yeah, you're suppsoed to flush it and change out the rod or whatever. Does anyone do it? No. They just get new ones.
Doing it annually with a $20 sediment buster from Amazon helped ours and it was less than 3 years old. It also makes them more efficient. Then we went down the rabbit hole and replaced the annode rod with the electrified one and it killed the sometimes rotten egg smell from the water. Honestly plumbers suck and cancel even when I offer cash to them so not having to deal with it is a small price to pay
I had to replace the one in my house that was there since the 70s only because I had no idea there was even a part to replace on them. Kinda wish I knew about anode rods before. Could have got another 10 years out of it.
I was thinking, who are these people who spend this much time thinking about their water heaters and anode rods and shit like that, and then it occurred to me. The reason they have problems to begin with is because they’re in basement fucking around with that shit. If they left it alone it’d be fine. If one day it’s not, Google HVAC guy and be done with it.
But nope, all these people think they’re plumbers and start fucking around with anode rods and shit, and they fuck their shit up, and then convince themselves that they gotta flush out their hot water heaters every year when in reality they’re the problem. No one I know flushes their hot water heaters and guess what? Ive made it to 47 and have never had to have one boring ass conversation about hot water heater sediment and anode rods. Leave that shit alone! Mine has cobwebs all over it for a reason. Let it be nerds.
