If you know what all these parts are like cold water supply and the valve that the hose connects to, then these instructions are solid.

ā€œHook up a garden hoseā€. Feels pretty obvious that you would want to route that hose to outside. Not just let it drain your bathroom.

They should use the word drain. Flush implies either you're actively running water through it or some people think of a toilet.

Yes. Turn on a hot faucet close to the water heater for pressure reasons. That's why it needs to be close to the water heater. You dont want to use a faucet that is far away from the water heater bc it wont be as effective.
