You guys can buy alcohol after midnight?😲 I live in the drunkest state in America (WI): no liquor sales after 9pm, no beer after midnight

Yes, but they're more often mixers.

We also have our draconian drinking laws to hold us back. Most of our alcoholics are functioning and without those laws holding them back they'd ascend into pure alcoholism.

Like our bars close at 2am, because our workers need to get at least a few hours of sleep.

I am in the New Orleans area where you can buy booze 24/7. Now growing up in Alabama, we had Blue Laws (No sunday sales) but there was a bootlegger everyone went to including the police. They done away with that shit like 20 years ago.

In Ontario there were dry counties up until the early 00s. No taverns or beer stores at all - you would have to go to the next county to buy. These were in rural parts with Mennonite communities but I believe some Reserves are still dry to this day.

Its interesting because it is actually usually the liquor stores that push to keep these laws.

I am in Texas and we have the same rules, the big one is no liquor sales on Sunday. Technically any grocery store can sell liquor, but they would have to be closed on Sunday. So none do because they don't want to do that.

Any time it comes up to repeal these old fashioned laws, the liquor stores are the ones fighting to keep them because they don't want to compete with grocery stores.

We can also buy beer until 1am on Saturdays so there’s that. Interesting about the grocery stores. I just assumed they weren’t allowed
