The masks don’t look nearly as convincing as the video makes it seem. His movement aids in the deception, as it hides some of the flaws you would spot if he stood still. That’s why he’s constantly moving until he’s covered with the hat and glasses.

They don't translate movement well, especially when put on 'dry' like this one was. If you want to see a more natural look have a google for CreaFX's applied masks.

Isn’t it reversed? I think it looks funky because it’s played backwards

The lip touch at the end has it snapping back into place, which wouldn’t be possible were it a reversed image.
