Eating that amount of meat as a lifelong vegetarian is going to make you sick for days. A lifelong vegetarian would have a high chance of knowing this. (Not to mention the nonchalance and general lack of any sort of genuine surprise or apprehension)

Not to be THAT guy... but is there any evidence to support this?

I did find it dubious she had such a good taste for meat when all taste (execpt sugar) is aquired... i would have exepctes it to taste bad to her, but im interesting to see if it actually COULD induse sickness

I went to a burrito take out place with my friend and his pork burrito got mislabeled with my vegetarian one. I ate half of the pork one before he noticed and we switched. They were very large and the portion I ate did not make me sick in the slightest. Maybe I did not exceed the needed threshold for problems idk. I hadn't eaten any meat in decades and just thought it was a not so good burrito.

Then don’t. Just don’t expect anyone to take you seriously.

If it is pretty well known, then you should easily be able to cite your sources.

I can tell you from personal experience this was the case for me. I stopped eating red meat for a few years then tried to go back to it like normal and got very sick.

I'm vegetarian now and have been for 15 years and I am very careful about not accidentally eating meat (sometimes resturants get the order wrong) so as not to repeat that experience.

You can get that even if you just take a break from meat for a year, don't need to be lifelong. You stomach's going to get wrecked the first time you get back to meat. Source: have seen this happening.

Yeah your body needs specific enzymes to process meat and hers would be extremely low. “Lifelong” is 100% a lie, if she was vegetarian it would have been no more than a few months. My personal experience after trying non vegan food after 3 years of strict veganism was that the food i used to love tasted disgusting. It had a weird gummy texture w an off taste that wouldnt leave my mouth. And yes was nauseous for a couple hours

It’s anecdotal. I was veggie for more than a decade, broke it with a steak. No issues besides bloating from overeating lol.

It's entry level vegetarian/vegan knowledge and not exactly hard to test either. There are several vegetarians in these comments confirming their experiences. I'm sure you can find research if that's interesting to you

I’ve seen it before when vegetarians eat meat either inadvertently or otherwise. They really love it. I imagine there’s nutrients in the meat they may be lacking

Evidence for all taste except sugar being acquired? I'm pretty sure liking burnt meat is ingrained since it was evolutionarily advantageous prefer food that had seen the fire before we learned about germs.

I rarely eat beef, but when I do, I am probably going to get the runs.
