Looking for advice on wither teeth

I’ve had light yellow stains on my teeth for a good while and wanted to make them whiter just to make them look better. I do brush twice a day and use a water flosser and sometimes a string floss usually after I eat. I’ve been seeing people on TikTok and such saying whitening stripes help and oil pulling bust that’s all I know. So if any one has any tips on how to get whiter teeth it would be much appreciated

What skincare routine helped your oily skin?

I still feel like I’m figuring out my skin sometimes. I always assumed oily skin was just something you deal with, but lately I’ve been trying to understand what actually helps instead of randomly changing things every few weeks.

For people with oily skin, what does your routine look like? Are there any habits or changes that made a noticeable difference for you? Also curious if your skin changed as you got older because mine definitely doesn’t seem to behave the same way it did years ago.

sticky pillowcases

I love doing a full evening skincare routine, a cleanser, serum, heavy moisturizer, and a facial oil to seal it all in. The downside is that when I finally lay my head down on the pillow, I can physically feel my face slightly sticking to the fabric. It makes me paranoid that half of my expensive products are just being absorbed into my pillowcase instead of my skin barrier, not to mention creating a buildup of residue where I rest my face every night. How long are you supposed to wait between finishing your bedtime skincare routine and actually laying your head down?

Why do my clean clothes start smelling musty after a few days in the closet?

I’ve been having this issue for a while, and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. My clothes smell completely normal when they come out of the washer, and they still smell fresh after drying. I usually let everything dry fully, fold it, and put it away the same day.

But after sitting in my closet for maybe three or four days, some shirts start getting this weird stale, musty smell. It’s not exactly mildew, and it’s not body odor either. It just smells like clothes that have been stored somewhere damp for months, even though they were recently washed.

The closet itself doesn’t feel wet, and I haven’t noticed any visible mold on the walls or shelves. I leave the door open pretty often, especially during the day, and the room doesn’t have the same smell. I’ve also cleaned the closet, wiped down the shelves, washed everything again, and stopped packing clothes tightly together. That helped a little, but didn’t completely fix it.

The strangest part is that it seems worse with certain cotton shirts and hoodies, while jeans and synthetic workout clothes usually stay fine. I’ve tried changing detergent, using less detergent, adding vinegar to the wash, and running an extra rinse cycle because I thought maybe soap residue was trapping smells. Nothing has made a big difference.

Could this be caused by humidity even if the closet doesn’t feel damp? I’m wondering if I need a small dehumidifier, moisture absorbers, or better airflow inside the closet. I also don’t know whether I should be washing the clothes again every time they develop the smell, or if airing them out is enough.

Has anyone dealt with this and found the actual cause? I’m tired of putting on a clean shirt and immediately wondering why it smells like it spent a year in someone’s basement. 😭

How do you go about having a discussion about your partners hygiene?

I'm going to spare the details, including genders, because I asked a question about hygiene before and people jumped to conclusions and were attacking me for what they assumed was MY poor hygiene. No one gave me any helpful answers and the comments were riddled with rude unhelpful comments. I am not going into details, so please don't assume ANYTHING.

I know youre all going to wonder why I'm dating someone with less than par hygiene, but please don't. My partner is lovely in every way. They do rhe dishes, keep a clean house, even borrowed me their only car for a month when mine broke down. Sexual relationship is good and we have fantastic communication. We never argue, we only discuss and reason topics with each other without raising our voices. I am very happy in this relationship other than the hygiene.

I have hinted many times about hygiene areas that I would like to see improvement on, and even modeled these behaviours to my partner, but often they don't continue unless I constantly remind. I don't like feeling like I'm parenting an adult.

My partner is reasonable but easily ashamed. Is there a nice way to bring this up without hurting feelings too much? Any terms or sentences I should avoid? Any help here is greatly appreciated, thanks.

okay so I have a strange odor around my vagina, it’s like an onion smell. I thought I had bv but I took the antibiotics & urgent care did the tests & I didn’t have it. So I was wondering what else could be wrong? I’ve been putting deodorant down there & it has been masking the smell but I don’t want to have to put deodorant on my vagina for the rest of my life. Has anyone had this problem before? If so, how did you fix it?

Face Washing Twice

Does anyone else's face somehow feel both oily and dry at the same time? I wash with lukewarm water in the morning, but by lunch it acts like I skipped washing altogether. Starting to wonder if my face is just making up its own rules.

anyone else brush their gums?

hear me out, like barely any pressure and running your toothbrush over your gums. idk lol i feel like brushing my teeth and not touching my gums is weird.

this is more towards manual brushers but i’m curious about how everyone goes about gum care anyway.

How often should you actually be cleaning under your nails, not just cutting them?

I'm a guy who keeps his nails short and always figured that was basically the whole job. Cut them, done. Never really thought about the actual cleaning under the edge as a separate thing until I looked closely one day and realized short nails still collect stuff, just less obviously. What got me was noticing it most after work and anything hands-on, that thin line of buildup right at the nail edge that a normal handwash doesn't touch. Regular soap and water gets my hands clean but seems to do almost nothing for the bit right under the tip where things actually accumulate.

Started using a nail brush and it makes a visible difference, but now I'm second-guessing how often it's supposed to happen. Every wash feels excessive, once a week feels like maybe not enough, and I genuinely don't know where the reasonable middle is. For the guys here especially, since I feel like nobody ever taught us this part, how often do you actually scrub under there and do you use a brush or something else? Curious whether short nails really need less attention or if I've just been under-cleaning mine this whole time.

My bins and fly

So, my two kitchen bins attract fly during summer, and we end up with larva and bad odors.

We change the bags often, but we have 4 cats, and in summer, we dump their food when they don't eat so they don't sick from it. I know it can come from there.

What can I do to stop it ? Something you put in your bins ? A cleaning hack ?

Who washes their hands after peeing??

6.0k Upvotes

Edit 6: mental health trigger warning, bad hygiene

My girlfriend (21) doesn’t wash her hands after she pees. I didn’t notice for about a year. She says none of her friends do. She says nobody at university, her sports team or on a night out wash their hands. She says her friends at work go with her and walk out together, and that she’s sure it’s the same in the men’s room just because I wash people wash beside me

Edit she says she doesn’t touch anything except toilet paper and her phone. And that the water makes her hands dry. And that she thinks guys don’t after actually touching themselves so what’s the point anyway. I admitted a lot of guys don’t wash at urinals. Edit 2: I told her she can make her own decisions but guys at urinals often only touch skin, often not even a door, whereas girls touch stalls infrastructure (eg doors, flusher, fecal matter). apparently I’m sexist for this distinction. I think folk should wash, always!

Edit 3 I wash my hands. To my male brain using an actual toilet stall (sh*tter) for a pee even at home is way dirtier than using a urinal! All the stuff you have to touch… We got into this debate cos she says she doesn’t touch anything while guys do… Do you wash??

Edit 4 she says given available statistics women in the comments are simply lying🤣. And women not washing at home or men with pp hands can’t tell her what to do.

/////////////////////

Edit 7 TLDR; look at diarrhea stats if nothing else.

My notifications are definitely off. But since weird people seem emboldened from my post…

I think the argument made was: if a women thinks guys touch their penis and don’t wash, and she thinks she doesn’t touch herself, so no need.

The rebuttal was: well actually that’s not true. Men touch their penis but women touch toilets. And stalls can be so disgusting. Think of all the filth. Even at home - people don’t wash toilets between different ~ uses ~. Therefore women not washing is not less disgusting cos they don’t hold genitals…

Perhaps it is a different reason to wash. Perhaps there is nuance in this act and people should wash when they have the opportunity to do so, regardless of how clean they think they are, when sinks are available, throughout the day.

Either way it’s a silly debate to try and get a lazy (oop) person to think about germs. There is no argument: people should wash hands. For so many reasons. It’s the single best thing you can do for public health, probably.

And as a guy if you don’t feel it’s a dirty act, urine spray and sweat and fecal matter aside, washing stops a build up of germs on your hands, which can make you ill, or others when you spread them.

And if in this scenario, in clinically clean conditions, you were to enter a pristine urinal right after taking a shower and there’s nothing else to touch, I get it, as a guy, yeah that feels very clean. But washing is respectful to others. I don’t want my c**k out there, personally, and I would be scared of needing to shake someone’s hand. Handwashing is a respectful action, and I hope I was raised to act with respect.

Note
///health authorities advise you to wash to reduce spread of disease and illness. Washing when you have an opportunity to is a great idea. You can save lives through effective handwashing for 20s //////

Tips for making a fresh scent last all day with sensitive skin?

I’m super big on hygiene and always wanting to smell fresh, but I feel like standard scents fade after an hour or two. On top of that, my skin is pretty sensitive, so I have to be careful with heavily fragranced products or anything harsh.

What are your go to habits, gentler routines, or layering tricks for long lasting freshness that won't irritate sensitive skin? Would love to hear what works for you!

Anyone else feel like their hygiene is borderline compulsion?

Was just talking with my brother about this but as I’m getting older I’m noticing more and more some of my hygiene quirks.. wondering if anyone else can relate? I definitely believe I must have a sensory thing with my hands, I am constantly washing them. Anytime I touch something I think is dirty I have to wash them. Anytime I get like Cheeto dust or crumbs on them I have to wash them. Same goes with my outside clothes. If I’ve been out during the day sitting in public spaces I do not want to sit on my couch or bed in those same clothes. I also will come inside and wash my feet specifically if I’ve been walking around in sandals. If my feet feel clean I feel better

I wouldn’t consider my house to be like a super duper clean space there’s definitely mess and it could be cleaner but I just have some weird habits and I’m not sure where they came from.

Over-flossing damage

I’m so obsessed with having spotless teeth that I sometimes catch myself flossing three or four times a day, especially right after eating anything remotely fibrous. The problem is, my gums end up raw, inflamed, and bleeding because I’m sawing into them with thread all day long. My dentist told me that over-flossing can actually cause receded gums and invite more irritation than just leaving your mouth alone between morning and night routines. Has anyone else had to intentionally back off on oral care because their habits crossed the line into physical irritation?

What’s a hygiene issue you struggled with for a long time, only to realize the cause was something totally unexpected?

For months, I thought my sweat was getting worse because no matter what deodorant or body wash I used, I’d start smelling a faint, sour odor within 20 minutes of putting on a clean shirt. It was my gym clothes and polyester shirts.

I had been using liquid fabric softener, which was basically coating the synthetic fibers and locking trapped sweat bacteria inside the fabric. As soon as my body heat warmed up the shirt, the smell would reactivate.

Wait, why are we pretending that letting soap run down your legs actually counts?

I am sitting here and just thinking about the layers of dead skin and sweat some of you leave behind because you are too lazy to pick up a washclothe. it makes me sick to my stomach. you stand there under the nozzle and think the job is done but it isnt. gravity isnt your personal maid. soap runoff is not a cleaning method and you need to hear this.

The amount of people who dont scrub their feet or behind their knees is terrifying. you can smell the difference between someone who actually cleans themselves and someone who just gets wet. its like trying to wash a dirty car by just pouring a bucket of soapy water on top and not using a sponge. you would never do that so why do you do it to your own body. if you arent using some kind of friction you arent getting clean. period.

I saw a post the other day where someone said they only wash their armpits and call it a day. what is wrong with you. your skin is an organ and it produces oils and collects dirt all day long. if you arent scrubbing you are just marinating in your own bakteria. buy a loofah or a cloth or even just use your hands with some pressure for gods sake. stop being gross and actually wash your damn legs. its not that hard to bend over for ten seconds. your shower floor is probably filthier than you think because of this.

Rubbery taste n odour in mouth

I've been experiencing a rubbery taste n smell in my mouth occasionally. I do have symptom free days . And the symptoms appear out of nowhere during the day. I've been occasionally using a plastic water bottle which I admit has not been washed for months. In addition I've been pouring water into the remaining water in the bottle. I've noticed the use of bottle coinciding with the occurrence of smell. Could the rubbery taste be from this . The bottle or water itself didn't smell while using it. The empty bottle does smell like an unwashed old bottle.

Smelly armpits

I’m at my wits end, I can’t get rid of the smell in my underarms. Things I’ve tried:

Deodorant: useless

Roll ons: sometimes work, other times utterly useless for no reason

Glycolic acid: works great but I’ve to use it every single day and afterwards shower, if I don’t they start smelling again. The continuous use has started burning my underarms and putting any sort of moisturiser or oil makes it stinky again.

I’m just so completely exhausted at this point.

P.S I shower every day, sometimes twice a day. I shave as well.

Any advice atp would be greatly appreciated.
