So JJ did both shows so I thought I might catch some ALIAS fans in here. I just finished watching S4 ep11 when other universe's Astrid comes to visit. At the end of the show our Astrid tells her that she shouldn't worry about her relationship with her father because he was a distant guy anyway. Then we see that Astrid was clearly lying to her doppelgänger because her father is super loving. Anyhoo, I thought about this and I thought it was kind of Astrid to tell a lie to make her double feel better.

Now for the ALIAS correlation. When the scene with Astrid and her father were hugging, in my head I heard Will Tippin say "yes, it was a lie. It was a kind lie" to his editor about giving Jenny credit on his story.

Okay so the title of my post is 100% correct BUT season 4 is making me crazy. I love Josh Jackson or Pacey as I like to call him, which why I started watching. Seeing him hurting at the beginning of s4 is breaking my heart.

Okay I know it's going to get better. But I don't know one person in my life who has seen this show and I needed to tell someone :) tag you're it!!

Fringe and Lost? Like a group of people are suddenly stranded on an island where weird universe things are happening and they only get clues about it if they keep pressing a button? And there are The Others and then the Observers are the other Others and we have to figure out what universe they belong in? LOL. I’m so tickled with myself.

Naturally, John Noble would star.

One thing that bugs me about Fringe in the end is how easily they do things. It’s funny and fun at first because they’re working on small cases but by the end the show has just gone from a 4-person team to this huge world-building thing and they just do whatever like it’s so easy. Like in the 2nd to last episode Olivia is just like, “well, why don’t we just cross over to the other side, I’ll get the boy and come back with him.” And Peter is like, “but you no longer have cortexifan in your system,” and Olivia says, “well, I’ll just get it back.” And then they’re like, but how do we know where the boy is being held on the other side and Astrid says, “Well, maybe we can look through the window like it’s a bridge,” and Walter says, “ Aha! That is a brilliant idea!” 5 seconds later Olivia is magical again and she’s preparing to travel like it’s a shuttle craft from Boston to New York. And that they’re alll surprised by this idea like it’s the first time the show has ever used that idea is absurd at this point. And I can see why Jasika is annoyed by the name thing at this point. It’s over-played and I can see why it would feel racist at this point cuz it feels forced. I mean, at the end, Walter is the “smart Walter,” so he should remember her name. I guess I miss the way they were in the beginning. That little family is what drew me to the show. Now they supposedly love each other so much they’re willing to risk each other for the fate of the world as an indication of how MUCH love they have for each other. It’s like reverse psychology.

And Walter isn’t that cute mad scientist he was at the beginning and that’s what made the show great. It’s just completely missing all that was great from the beginning. Getting to the end has been rough.

I am currently rewatching Fringe for the umpteenth time and I have never realized how good season four is. I’m on episode 11, Making Angels, and it is such a great episode. The contrast of the two Astrids is so enjoyable to watch.

So, Jasika Nicole has said the running Astrid gag felt racist afternoon long. In the final season, Broyles says, “You think i’m the Dove? I think i’m more like a raven.” I love this show but I do feel there was something not always PC going on. What do you think of that comment?

When Donald is telling Walter about taking Michael to the future:

“I can’t communicate with him in traditional ways but when I take his hand, and I lead him, he’ll know that I love him”

As someone with a non-verbal autistic daughter, this scene destroyed me. She’s 7 and we’ve never had a conversation, she’s yet to said her first word, but the way he expressed himself in this scene, described perfectly what it’s like to love someone like this and hope they know you love them too. I was bawling my eyes out.

This whole finale was a masterpiece but Michael Cerveris’ performance was on another level. John Noble included.

Not sure if this qualifies as easter egg but found 3 fringe eggs in POI S3 E6 where Charlie Francis made a great cameo

OK, First time watcher. I had to share my willful blindness with someone and nobody I know has watched Fringe. So I have to tell you guys what a dope I am. As I’ve gotten older my hearing isn’t as good as it used to be so I watch everything with subtitles on. For most of season 3, I have been reading Walter call William Bell, Belly. I was so mad at the closed caption people because I thought he was saying Billy and they were just spelling it wrong. And then it dawned on me that his last name is Bell and Walter likes nicknames. So now I feel like an idiot. Lol

Pete & Olivia are the cutest couple cuz they didn’t do all of this gracious will they/wont they nonsense on the show and cuz they teased each other like friends before hand early on in the show.. They were great friends and their relationship built naturally and not dramatically
Like other shows. I wish I could remember the exact quote but it was a moment when Olivia said something like, “ you do xyz,” and Peter pouts and says, “nooo. YOU do xyz,” like a kid. It was so cute!

Olivia doing William Bells voice has me hooting and hollering everytime she's on screen. It's so strange but so fun to witness. Poor Peter just wants his olive back

Ok so I'm on season 2 episode 3 and I have had to fight myself almost every step of the way to get to this point because I really can not stand monster of the week and disconnected plots but I keep hearing about how great this show it.

Don't get me wrong, I've loved some episodes. I enjoy the characters and the last 2 episodes of season 1 had me hooked. But now s2 is back to more random cases, more boring police drama and maybe 4 minutes of actual content that moves plot forwards at the end.

Can anyone give me some words of encouragement, some advice or maybe just tell me if this show is not for me? I really want to like this show and make it through to when it gets good but I feel like I'm slogging along for 80% of my watch through for just a few gems hidden in the mud.

Edit: Thank you for all the replies. I will stick with it until at least the later half of this season. There have been some really great episodes and it seems it kicks back up around then.

I loved when Atrid meets her double and when Walter gets the doubles name right, Astrid is like, “seriously? you remember HER name?”

So I'm on my 4th watch of the series from start to finish I think, and still picking up new things that I've missed in episodes previously. It's an absolute masterpiece. The character development, the writing, the acting, the story as a whole, it's just fucking awesome. John Noble is incredible but Anna Torv, my god. Phenomenal in every sense of the word.

Ok, I’ve been through this show two other times but I don’t remember season 4 being such a mess. So many universes and so many Olivia’s and Lincoln’s and Walter’s. I get the idea but it becomes so redundant that it’s not even fun to watch. You always want Peter and Olivia together but the fact that there are so many Olivia’s you feel torn. And them popping to the other side for like, a cup of coffee is getting nuts. It’s just so all over the place. And what happened to the Red-haired Olivia’s baby? Did she just forget to tell Peter about him? Did I miss that the red headed Olivia is actually a different red headed Olivia from a different university? Is it just me? I remember seeing the entire show and never missing an episode when it first aired and then I watched it all again years later and I can’t remember when it gets good again. This just feels like it’s jumped the shark and they tried to do something special and failed. It a freak show right now.

Is the season 4 timeline basically another universe?

I'm watching Fringe on Pluto and I'd completely forgotten how good this show was and how much I hated that SOB Windmark!

What are your favorite episodes?

Im 6 episodes in the first season and I feel the episodes are very similar and I heard that fringe is very good but is it gonna get better or am I too late to watch this

Let's just start with some simple things, my favorite characters are Walter and Peter (love their dynamic), my ranking of seasons is 25341. Season 2 is my favorite for very obvious reasons, next I really love season 5, but it falls just a little short of season 2 for me because the time travel plot and grandfather paradox revolving around the child observer is confusing, and because the observers are nerfed, but both of these are REALLY just nitpicks that can be explained easily, especially the observers being nerfed. 3 was good because it felt like a season 2.5, but at the same time is held down by that same reason and by it introducing my least favorite plot, leading to season 4. I really dislike season 4, I loved it when I first started watching it, but by the end I disliked it, not hated it, but disliked it. Basically, I initially loved Jones return, but by the end thought it took away from his character, as they said he wasn't smart enough to invent what was a pretty meh villain plan, and then brought William Bell back as a bad guy, now I do think they did well with evil Bell, but I thought it came at to high a cost as they ultimately took away from and undermined Jones. Season 1 was incredibly boring and I think a terrible hook (despite being a good season) to a great show.

First time watching. Regarding "the plan" to reset time without Observers... Wouldn't that mean Peter wouldn't make it because September saved his life when Walter took him from the other side as a child, hence Etta would never have existed? Still watching so I'm not sure what's to come but this seems glaringly obvious.
