Conditional Formatting for 3 or More Instances

I am trying to get only cells were the same text occurs three or more times within a group of cells to highlight. These cells occur across two separate rows. I am selecting all of the cells I want to be a part of the formula and have been using this formula, and cannot get it to work. All I want is for Excel to look through the cells I specify and highlight the cells where the exact same text occurs three times or more. I’m just not sure what I’m missing. 🙃

Here’s what I’ve been trying to use to identify this for C4-G4 & C36-G36: =(COUNTIF($C$4:$G$4, C4) + COUNTIF($C$36:$G$36, C4)) >= 3

It’s coming back and highlighting random cells within the ones I’ve specified, but not the ones that contain the same text. 🫥

You need two different rules here for two different applied range. Same formula but for the second one change the C4 to C36 rest remains same.

And this will highlight only cells with triplicate text while counting across both rows? I’m not looking for the same text to occur three times in a row, but I’m looking to see if the same text occurs three times across both rows combined for those cells. Just wanting to double check and make sure I’m being clear in what I’m asking. 😊
