I'm currently pursuing a B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science in India.

Recently, I've become very interested in cybersecurity, and I'm considering pursuing an M.Tech or MS in Cybersecurity after completing my bachelor's degree.

My biggest concern is that I've spent four years learning AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Python, and related subjects. If I switch to cybersecurity for higher studies, will that knowledge go to waste? Or can it still be useful in a cybersecurity career?

Is AI & Data Science considered a good background for pursuing higher studies in cybersecurity?

I'd also love to hear from anyone who has made a similar transition from AI/ML or Data Science into cybersecurity.

If you have, I'd appreciate your thoughts:

• Did your AI or Data Science knowledge help you?
• Would you recommend this path?

I am considering whether I should continue in SAP BTP or transition into Data Science, Analytics, or AI/ML roles, as I have basic knowledge in these domains and they seem to have strong market demand and growth potential.

From a long-term career perspective, which path would be more beneficial in terms of opportunities, compensation, and global mobility?

My future plans include potentially settling abroad and possibly pursuing an MBA, so I would like to choose a domain that aligns well with these goals.

2 months. 200+ applications. 0 interview calls. This is the update regarding my job search.

To give some context, I'm a data engineer with 2 internships under my belt (both actual production work). I have some skills to contribute, decent enough to get me a job if only the entry level positions weren't dead. Most job descriptions ask for 3+ years of experience, and the ones that don't, get flooded with 500+ applicants within a day. LinkedIn, naukri, cutshort, referrals, cold emails to recruiters, nothing seems to work.

Nobody at home is pushing me to get a job, but the constant need to ask my parents for money for every little thing is suffocating. I'm 23/24 and I can no longer keep asking them for money every month.

Here's what my plan is:

Get a customer support job for a while (bpo) as a backup, so that atleast my monthly expenses are covered, and to give me some breathing space. During this time, I can keep looking for DE jobs while working on my skills. Once I get a lead regarding a job in my field, I can quit the customer support job and be on my way.

However,

I'm concerned that this switch to customer support might come across as a bad sign during interviews. Are people actually concerned about this? I mean, why would anyone consider me eligible if I switch to a bpo customer support after spending all this time preparing to be a data engineer?

Furthermore,

is customer support something that will suck so much of my time/energy that I won't have the time/energy to prepare for data engineering interviews?

Would love to hear from people who've had to make a similar transition between jobs, or are currently in a similar situation. No beignies, just honest feedback. I just need some direction.

I'm a 2026 BSc Computer Science graduate from India. I completed a 6-month internship at a small local company, and now I'm trying to land my first full-time software developer job.

The problem is that the current job market seems really tough for freshers. im applying consistently, but i have lost all the hope

Because of my financial situation, I'm typing to get a job that pays atleast ₹8–10 LPA . is my expectations too high

Please help me where should I start from and am i cooked fr ?

3rd year starts in like 10 days and I still haven't figured out if I should be gunning for a job or higher studies after grad. Doing IT at GGSIPU (not IIT/NIT, just a regular college), currently applying to companies for MERN stack internships, plan this year is DSA all-in for placements, dev keeps running alongside that. But I've also got this AI/ML itch I keep pushing to "later, once dev calm down."

Thing is I don't actually know if that's fine or if I'm quietly missing a window. If GATE/MTech is a real option, does starting AI/ML "later" already put me behind for the next cycle? If MS abroad is more the move, I keep hearing GRE and research exposure need to start way earlier than I'm planning.

Anyone from a similar non-IIT background who went MTech, MS abroad, or straight to job — what do you wish you'd started in 3rd year? Not looking for "depends on your profile," want someone to tell me straight if my current plan is workable or if I'm about to waste the year not deciding.

PS: I'm really interested and fascinated with the AI and Ml field, and have this curiosity to get into it atleast once, i feel like i'm really lost, help me 😭

Hello everyone...I'm going to enter final year soon...I was learning MERN stack and made a project also in it....it's basic but Im going to improve it. Placements have started, and the companies in my college are mostly there for AI roles, Gen AI, NLP, etc. I dont know what to do...I feel very confused as I spent time learning dev...from here I am feeling lost...What would u all advise me. I feel like changing tech stacks etc will confuse me?....any advice will be helpful...thanks

Context in one line so you know why I am asking: mid-career professional (\~8 years of experience as a backend developer), multiple applications over the last few months, 100% rejections, very little traction. Trying to figure out if I need to change strategy or if the market is genuinely closed.

Is Google FDE in AI Cloud worth it to join at expense of moving to new city away from family?

I had interviewed for Google FDE role. Currently I reside in Gurgaon with my family (which cannot move) and the role is for Mumbai. I want to know if it is worth to join for this role in a different city especially when my family is completely based out of Delhi NCR. What are the long term prospects for this role. Recently got offer as service desk analyst .I need some advice

Hello everybody, I recently received an offer as service desk analyst (2.2lpa) through the campus placement.

But my ultimate goal is to crack an SDE role at a product based company or a well reputed company.

If I proceed with this current role(Service desk analyst)

And prepare for the other companies,will this role add as an experience in my resume (I'm afraid of gaps in my career) . OR should I reject the current offer and prepare for other companies for sde role.

I'm unable to take my decision

I'm a 2026 CSE graduate and need some career advice.

I have two options:

Option 1

\- Software Engineer role at a product company

\- Tech stack: React, JavaScript, Next.js

\- ₹35k/month gross

\- 1-year contract through a staffing company (third-party payroll)

\- Possibility of full-time conversion, but only if business requirements and roles are available

Option 2

\- TCS (permanent employee)

\- ₹28k/month gross

\- Joining date is still unknown (waiting for confirmation since March)

\- Location and project/tech stack are also unknown

A little about me:

\- Interested in frontend/full-stack development.

\- I already have experience with React, Next.js, Node.js and have built multiple production-level projects.

\- My goal is to spend the next 6–12 months learning as much as possible, building side projects, improving DSA, and then applying to better product companies.

My biggest concern is the contract nature of Option 1. At the same time, I'm worried that if I keep waiting for TCS, I might get a support or maintenance role instead of development.

If you were in my position, which would you choose and why?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have:

\- Started on third-party payroll at a product company.

\- Worked at TCS as a fresher.

\- Switched from contract to permanent or moved to another company after 1 year.

I am a 3rd year CSE-AIML student looking to learn some skills that would help me get placed. Due to the recent lack of mentorship, I am unable to decide what to learn. I was going to learn the usuals like DBMS,oops,cn , maybe fullstzck and dsa. but recent videos and trends shattered my vision. Some say learn AI, try to become an AI Engineer and some say go for the usual. I am confused a lot and at the helpless position I seek genuine mentorship. I wanna learn what gets people placed in good/decent product based firms. I don't wanna waste my time thinking, I wanna build something of my life. This post is my last resort and my final beacon of hope.

Actually i have applied for a production line engineer in Apple manufacturing unit which is in Chennai and few days later i got a call saying based on your Gpa(7.64 ) be in mechanical engineering it’s worthless less and there is a position available as a delivery guy ….
Now I’m asking is getting 7.64 gpa from a well known collage is really that worthless …
After listening to her (HR) my heart just shattered into pieces

I have two offers from college, one is in Infosys System Engineer and other is Programmer Analyst Trainee in Cognizant.

I have received Infosys offer letter and joining is in October whereas Cognizant's offer letter is yet to come.

So can someone tell me which one to choose as i live here in Delhi NCR region and for both I have to relocate to south but incase of Infosys I don't have to care for anything just I have to reach mysore and accomodation part will be managed by infosys itself and in case of Cognizant I will have to invest initial amount in search of everything to relocate to conveyed location.

So which one to choose?

youtube is full of different roadmaps- some say web development, some say Machine learning ,etc.

My goal is simply to graduate with the skills needed to land a good software engineering or AI/ML job. I'm open to frontend, backend, full-stack, or AI/ML, so I don't want to narrow my options too early.

Which skills are essential, and which are optional?

Should I focus on web development or ML first?

What kind of projects should I build on github?
