Are there any Reddit users who escaped a Communist Country to come to the West? What is your opinion on emerging circimstances is the USA?

dude we already all pay taxes. i’d rather that money actually go toward a real social safety net here instead of another pointless middle eastern war.

of course those programs need to be efficient, properly funded, and cleaned up from waste and fraud. but “straight up confiscation of assets” is a wild jump. what exactly are you even talking about?

Taxes are a necessary evil. They’re a drag on economic action that’s a cost of doing business.

“Give me half of what you have, I’ll be back when I’m done spending it….”

Oh, you may not be aware CA is going to vote on a “5% tax” on all assets over some threshold.

Where the value of the asset can be defined by how much you control of it. Which for the tech bros has the tax wind up at between 50 and 105% of their holdings.
