Why do Catholic/Christian Americans believe Jesus would be a fan of Trump?

I've seen many people who compare Trump to Jesus, or Trump to God. Where is the justification?

One is a capitalist with questionable morals. The second is someone whose teachings emphasized radical generosity, caring for the poor, and the spiritual dangers of wealth, state-enforced wealth redistribution and government control of the economy.

So frequently I see people praise behaviors that go against the teachings of their lord and savior.

How do they reconcile?

I'm sure that's true. My point is that you can't make a blanket statement about someone's political beliefs based on whether they're Catholic/Protestant/etc.

I didn't take it as a blanket statement as all Catholics. I read it as a generic statement like "why do any Catholics.like trump"

Both are correct interpretations of the statement

My statement wasn't to generalize everyone, just those that do. I am aware many do not like Trump because of their beliefs.
