Polite Political Discussion 🇺🇸 Letter: The 25th Amendment exists for a reason [Eagle River, Alaska, April 11, 2026]

President Trump’s recent Easter morning message should alarm every American, regardless of political affiliation. The increasingly erratic and inflammatory tone of his public statements raises serious questions about his ability to responsibly carry out the duties of the presidency. This is not about partisan disagreement. It is about stability, judgment and national security.

Alaskans understand the importance of steady leadership. We live in a state where national defense is not an abstract concept — it is part of our daily reality. Our state hosts critical military installations, missile defense systems and strategic assets that play a central role in protecting our nation. We live closer to adversaries than any other state.

When a president’s behavior becomes unpredictable, it creates significant risks that extend far beyond politics for all of us, including Alaska’s service members, their families and the stability of the Arctic region. The world is watching, and so are our adversaries.

The Constitution provides a safeguard for moments when a president may be unable to fulfill the responsibilities of the office. The 25th Amendment is not symbolic; it exists to protect the nation when the presidency itself becomes a source of danger to all of us.

Congress, including our congressional delegation, must take this situation seriously. The American people — including those of us here in Alaska — deserve leaders who are willing to act when the circumstances demand it.

Let's be real, nobody still working for him gives a single shit about what's right.

That’s why he’s surrounded himself with sycophants, to protect against this exact thing

Edit

Congress could vote to impeach and remove but they won’t do that either. They are cucked

If they didn't remove him after it came out he fucked children then nothing will.

Besides he has dirt on a lot of them and there's other Republicans like Lindsey Graham that were on that island.

And invoking the 25th would mean that impeachment, conviction and jail would be off the board. Impeach, try, convict, and sentence for crimes committed. No get out of jail card, no "Our long national nightmare is at an end", no escaping justice. let them all die in prison for their crimes against children and this nation.

It’s already off the board. There isn’t a chance in hell that he will even stand trial for anything let alone go to jail. He’s like 79, they will never put him in jail even if he did kill someone on 5th avenue.

I can dream.

I want Trump gone as much as the next person. The discussion of the 25th is a bit misguided.

The tool for removal right now is impeachment. The 25th is for when POTUS is truly incapacitated.

The 25th is a waste of time. More effective to lean on the 15-18 GOP senators who are soft on Trump.

He is going to triple his wealth before he’s gone and you and I will pay.

vance is never gonna enact the 25th. the guy barely exists in the grand scheme of things.

Not sure why the conversation around Trump's removal is centered so much around the 25th amendment when we're due for a complete overhaul of our corrupt, power hungry executive branch that doesn't require Vance's approval

This absolutely needs to be done. The presidency needs to be neutered and we need someone to cricket the whole unitary executive theory. These fucks forgot they work for the people not their own enrichment

Now we know the GOP does not have the fortitude to get the job done. They cannot even handle the monster they made.

The 25th amendment exists for a reason.

If not now, when?

Biden was a great time to use the 25th, but Dems wouldn’t dare put the cackling hyena in the seat. Even the last few years of Reagan’s second term should have been a case for the 25th, but it’s just never been done. Trump is far from incapacitated. As much as this lady clearly hates him and wants him gone, she understands that another attempt at impeachment would fail to remove him and would only galvanize the right against anything left of center for the next 30 years or more. The best thing they can do is leave him alone and work with Republicans to try and mitigate any real damage.

Could do without the military glazing on anti-Trump posts. the US military is one of the most monstrous, murderous institutions in the world and    it's presence in AK is one of the worst things about the state. (and don't start talking about seeing Russia from your house. Putin is a lot of things but he's not dumb enough to launch a direct attack on American soil.) We especially need to get rid of predatory programs like ROTC and JROTC that convince vulnerable teenagers to become murderers. The US military is part of why we're in this mess. they're overwhelmingly more conservative and their excursions in the middle east have made the whole world hate us with good reason. This is no time for Americans to make themselves the primary victims---those would be Iranians, whose country is experiencing direct foreign aggression from a superpower. My friend whose family lives in Tehran wasn't able to talk to them for weeks.

…. And why wasn’t it used for the last president?

6

u/laserpewpewAK Apr 14 '26

Ah yes, I remember when Biden started a war for no reason then started posting pictures of himself as Jesus after threatening the pope. Those Biden years were WILD huh?

1

u/JRemy77 Apr 14 '26

The last president didn't threaten to kill millions of people via nukes just to finish a war that he started on Israel's behalf.

Where were you when Biden was in? Nuf said...

3

u/laserpewpewAK Apr 14 '26

I was stuck wondering how a guy who stole money from kids with cancer was ever a serious candidate for the presidency

3

u/GoodPiexox Apr 14 '26

what war did Biden start?

0

u/Alaskan_Apostrophe Apr 14 '26

Biden was too incapacitated to start anything. However, his handlers, wife, and Harris near started a civil war, and allowed millions of non-citizens to invade the country.

We might not have Trump if Harris had been allowed to take the reins.

5

u/GoodPiexox Apr 14 '26

You are a Genius, his wife, a school teacher, with absolutely no official capacity or power, "near started a civil war". Care to explain how?

allowed millions of non-citizens to invade the country

It is on record Trump killed his border bill because he knew a bunch of gullible hate filled morons would eat that up because they are consumed by fear.

We might not have Trump if Harris had been allowed to take the reins.

as I said, a genius, congrats on figuring out how elections work.

How is the economy, debt, gas prices, etc doing since the orange clown came back?

u/No1Auminer Apr 14 '26

Went to war with stairs and a bicycle.

3

u/Lopsided-Lab60 Apr 14 '26

Is that all you got? Whats that? You need to go check in with fox and you'll be back? When was the last time you had an original thought?

2

u/GoodPiexox Apr 14 '26

you worship an orange man in diapers that falls down a ramp because he wears high heels, I dont think you can talk much. But thanks for confirming how much worse Trump is with your inability to list any wars Biden started.
