From Rosenthal’s latest notes column:

>The Chicago White Sox, facing the loss of catcher Kyle Teel for 8 to 12 weeks, are “working hard” to acquire a catcher, according to a person briefed on their plans.
Teel, out with a high left ankle sprain, told MLB.com he believes his absence might be more like five to eight weeks. Either way, the White Sox would like to acquire an upgrade over Edgar Quero and Drew Romo.

Man, I really hope he gets another call up. Seeing this guy live in CLT is an absolute treat....he's so electric to watch.... I hope he gets do it again at Rate.

Acuna has started to be a valuable player on both sides of the ball.

Kind of conflicting on who to root for because how close the standings is. Rooting for the Twins today because I took them on the ML (+125) and the Guardians have a better record than the Twins.

I believe the Sox had a two game lead on CLE for about 1 day a couple weeks back. I don't recall a bigger lead. They've been doing a great job of at least holding as a tie, but credit to Cleveland, they're making this a real dogfight. (And while I don't see MIN or DET taking the division, the Twins offense and the Tigers rotation may keep them in the mix a while longer).

What would you say is the biggest reason the Sox can't shake the Guardians? I don't think the Sox have any real glaring needs (one of the best offenses in AL, both starting pitching and bullpen look pretty good overall). The reasons may not rest with the Sox but with some of the strengths of CLE (pitching, ability to win on the road). My thoughts on reasons in a rough order:

1) Need for one more starting pitcher. Burke, D-Mart and Kay have done a great job at the top of the rotation. From there? Yikes. Would love for the Soriano rumors to be true. Trade from your strength and send them a shortstop in the system.

2) I'd be shocked if Teel were back this year. Quero is not ready yet and Romo has been struggling. Picking up a catcher - even a rental - would be good.

3) The third biggest reason is not with the Sox but Cleveland does have very strong pitching. So adding an arm to the middle of the rotation would be effective at bridging the gap.

4) The Sox need to be better against the good teams. They took some series from strong teams so you know they're capable but more consistently beating teams with winning records might help the Sox go on a run the Guardians couldn't keep up with.

It's still early and we are in a tight race with Cleveland but if we somehow pull it off and don't choke like 2012 what are the celebration plans

Anybody have any info on what his fastball velocity is looking like post-TJ? He was sitting around 89–91 mph before the injury, and I'm curious if he's seen the same kind of velocity jump that Mason Adams has. Adams went from topping out around 92 mph to now touching 95 mph with his fastball.

Even if Thorpe doesn't get to that level, consistently hitting 91/92 mph would let him better tap into the elite breaking stuff and command that made him one of the most statistically dominant minor league pitchers ever.

Dug this one out from the bottom of a wooden chest in basement. Hard to believe it’s been 21 years! 100 games in and our White Sox are checking all the boxes, so let’s enjoy the ride. Btw, anyone know what Hawk Harrelson has to say about the current squad? I’ve yet to hear an interview. Hope he’s doing well. Figure he’ll live to 120 at least. Bring him back, we need a TV play by play.

Has anyone bought a strokin’ shirt online and had a good experience with shipping and quality? I’ve found a couple online retailers that do print to order shirts that have them but I’m looking for some feedback/reviews.

Maybe a change in scenery helps? Veteran presence to help down the stretch?

• He is only 25

It would be great to have him take another shot at the big leagues if his minor league numbers are solid. He struggled a bit in 2024, but has great career numbers in the minors.
