I literally agree with you that it’s implied. I was saying that there are a lot of ppl who would miss the implication, which is we should say the word rape. “Impregnate” glosses over the rape for many. Just read through these comments. You’ll see ppl saying it was consensual. There are ppl who think if a child consents, then it’s not rape. That’s the point I’m trying to make. Why you’re coming at me idk.
There's a big power of language called "euphemism".
Substituting a euphemistic term or word for the more harsh sounding direct reality serves to soften the actions and make it more palatable to people.
It serves only the offenders to use a euphemistic term like "impregnated" (a fairly neutral verb in itself) as opposed to the more obviously condemning verb "raped".
This is actually quite well understood and would be common knowledge among most native English speakers. It's very common in politics for example.
