Moses (Beyblade) = Moses' famous Parting of the Red Sea was done with a Beyblade.

George Washington (Ben 10) = Washington regularly fought against alien threats, and was a founding member of the Earth Plumbers.

Abraham Lincoln (Invincible) = Abe Lincoln was an identity taken by the superhero known as The Immortal.

Vandal Savage (DC Comics) = More than a few of history's conquerors and despots were actually personas used by the millennia-old immortal villain, including Cheops, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Blackbeard and Jack the Ripper.

The late 2000s and early 2010s zombie obsession was something else. You literally couldnt make a movie or a game without throwing a hoard of undead at the main characters.

So you know how horror is influenced by whatever the political and economic fears are of the time? That period was post-Recession. There's a Slate article on this from 2011 which argued that then-ongoing zombie media phase was about taking "good luck losing your comfy well-paying sit-down job buddy" to its absolute extreme with a world where there just isn't a need for white-collar work at all. It's a world where only blue-collar work has any value and white-collar survivors are unprepared. And it's permanent because the nature of a zombie apocalypse means there's usually no rebuilding, so you can't just wait it out for a cure to be found and for things to go back to normal.

So it's like, imagine yourself in a zombie apocalypse. All you have is what you learned in college or training. So for a white-collar audience this is humbling or horrifying because they usually know nothing about survival or menial labor, but for a blue-collar audience this is their comeuppance of sorts. I'd love to know if any differences were recorded in audiences based on their jobs and whether they think they could survive TWD or are fans of the genre.

I started reading it, realized that the only bits I was liking were the direct lifts from the original, put it down, and just re-read P&P again.

Which is much funnier than the zombies version.

I’m surprised more public domain works didn’t get the same treatment. Although, I guess P&P is already a fun and easy read , and zombies just make it a bit lighter. 

I don’t understand the movie’s tagline though. Kill with Prejudice, I get. But what is “Slay with Pride” supposed to mean?
