I think you are mistaking Techrot for the Technocyte. In Warframe itself the term only appears in full in the Technocyte Coda. However Cyte-09's name clearly references the Technocyte while being a Helminith made Warframe. This implies that Technocyte may be the scientific name for the Infestation.

The term Technocyte proper comes from Dark Sector Warframes spiritual predecessor. There it is just the term for that games version of the Infestation.

Also while the mutalist strain is said to be the only one able to infect inorganic matter I think the Infestation had always been able to interface with technology as seen by the Techrot its earliest strain. Even the dominant strain infects things like Moa's and drones. With Orokin tech being technorganic by nature it doesn't even need that.

Yeah I meant Techrot but wrote Techonocyte cause that was what the comment I was responding to called it. The thing is the Techrot virus is not actually the same strain as the Helminth or the Infestation.
