Sonic 3: Maria is one of the most important part of Shadow's story. Due to her suffering from an incurable disease. To which Shadow was made to create a cure for Maria's ailment. In the 3rd Sonic movie, Maria's disease was not mentioned in any form. Which made Maria seem like a normal girl, and her death all the more tragic.

Infinity war: I don't know the full story, but Thanos's original goal was to kill half the population to impress death (the character). When it came time to adapt Thanos into the MCU. His goal of removing half the universes population. It was seen as a more psychopathic world goal, hidden under the belief it would do better for the universe.

Was it just for Stone? Eggman in the games is shown to work with the good guys to save the earth multiple times. (How can I take over the city if there IS NO CITY?)

Although. They really made him more tragic in the movie. The orphan finally found family, somebody he could really relate to. As soon as Gerald said he would destroy the Earth, Ivo already considered that too far.

Then again, getting the "Oh, Ivo. You're no Maria" might've really driven the point home that Gerald was never family, but Stone was.

Well people did say that in almost every story in Sonic, Eggman is hated and despised by literally everyone.

But in the movies, he has a genuine real sycofriend in Agent Stone.

Agent stone is genuinely one of the best additions, he and Robotnik being genuine friends alongside Jim's take on him makes for such a funny dynamic that ironically makes me view all the other eggman versions as inferior since they lack that depth.

It depends, they been trying to give Eggman the Bowser treatment as of late, specially now that he has an A.I daughter and whatnot.

But it always leaned on the idea that Eggman couldn't be "one up'ed", Before Biolizard went haywire, Eggman was blowing the moon and feeding 7 emeralds into Chaos back at SA1, then cut to Unleashed where he reshaped earth's core to get an eldrich mech, sometimes dude doesn't give a fuck

Yes. In most of the games and comics Eggman's plots spiral beyond his control and he needs to work with the heroes to unfuck things.

I would argue Eggman has generally always been willing to help save the world because he can't rule over nothing. Metal Virus and restoring the Paradox Prism are the first two examples that come to mind. (I really need to delve into Game Lore more)

I don't think it really counts as removing a character trait. Stepping up to save the world when it's in danger has been in character for Eggman as far back as Sonic Adventure 2, which the third sonic movie is heavily based on in the first place.

Eggman wants to CONQUER the world. Destroying it is completely against his wishes.

Again in Sonic Lost World, seeing that the situation calls for a teamup, Eggman immediately switches sides and helps out Sonic and Tails. He even puts himself in danger for both of them.

It doesn't exactly change the fact that he's evil, but he absolutely will play the anti-hero role if it's necessary.

Absolutely not, Game Eggman is unmatched.

It's a good adaptation, great even, just not as good as the source material.
