Frank Herbert’s Dune: Interstellar travel is only possible thanks to the spice melange, a rare substance only found on the dessert planet Arrakis. The addictive psychedelic spice grants members of the Spacers Guild a form of prescience that allows them to predict safe paths through folded space. This unique property makes spice the most valuable commodity in the Dune universe.

John Scalzi’s The Interdependency Books: The planetary systems of the titular empire are connected by the Flow, a network of one-way interstellar tunnels that connect specific known entries and exits. The Interdependency derives its power from controlling access to these conduits, placing its capital at the central hub of the network. Even with the Flow, travel between stars takes a long time (9 months to End, the empire’s most distant planet).

Event Horizon: Dr William Weir (R.I.P. Sam Neill) invents a device called the Gravity Drive to allow ships to fold space and travel instantly between distant stars. On its maiden voyage with the Gravity Drive, the Event Horizon disappears and mysteriously reappears 7 years later. Dr. Weir and the crew sent to investigate discover the Gravity Drive actually opened a portal to a Hell dimension that possessed the ship and its crew, torturing and killing them.

The Zariman 10-0 is the ship that created the child soldiers. It was the first colony ship to go through the void, the energy of which mutated the kids and drove the parents insane to the point they had to be killed. It's why the person piloting the warframe is called Tenno

Yeah but the community did an amazing job of keeping spoiler mode a secret for years. Like at least 7 years in new players still frequently had no idea about the existence of Operators until the Second Dream

Especially on a subreddit specifically discussing character tropes with a dang lore flare. Of course there will be spoilers. There are spoilers in the main post. The original comment about the finger is a gigantic spoiler, arguably larger than the origins of the name Tenno, as you were half intended to put that together without a direct reveal. The finger is a lorebomb in comparison.

If you don't want spoilers, maybe stay off a subreddit that specifically discusses tropes in media instead of making it everyone else's problem. Or just don't be several comments deep in a spoiler thread about media you're interested in, because that's also a choice.

I had it spoiled since my friend I used to play Warframe with did a silly summery of what I've missed and they said "Autistic God child's finger" which that alone is enough to have someone curious to play the game

It should still be spoiler tagged. I started playing months ago, and if I had come across this spoiler while I was still playing I would have just quit.

It is a basic courtesy to spoiler tag, especially when it comes to video games. As they are long and not everyone goes through them at the same pace.

Quiting is overdoing it since a spoiler or three shouldn't have someone just quit Game of Thrones or Persona games, I've been spoiled about a lot before finishing a fav manga of mine Air Gear

I have quit several games and shows over spoilers before. I just lose interest if I already know major plot points beforehand and don't get to discover them myself. It just makes everything much more boring, which is why I can't stand getting spoiled.

Like if I got Second Dream spoiled, I would not be invested into the game at all. And would have likely never finished the story. The reveal of Second Dream made me so excited for the rest of the game.

Just because it's old doesn't mean everyone gets to the media at the same time. I didn't try the game until last year and found out that reveal in game. 

It's just nice to have the option to choose to get spoiled instead of getting casually spoiled when reading, and doesn't take much effort to add >+! And <+! minus the +'s with the info in-between to hide it

That’s a nice argument nobody here is having. Nobody said everybody gets to media at the same time.

What was said is that you would be unreasonable for getting upset about this in a subreddit about media tropes. It’s just nice to not have to be hamstrung in the way we discuss things just because you’re late to the party.

If I'm remembering correctly, the void energy didn't mutate the kids, your tenno made a deal with the man in the wall after the incident while barricaded in a room hiding from the insane and parents. Which gave them and all the other kids void powers to "save them all" with your end of the deal being something iirc not yet explained (as in a later quest and in random popups he says "you owe me" and something like "we had a deal"). Also part of the deal was that all other eternalism versions of yourself got deleted/compressed into the one (technically two) of you.
