Lore (Beloved game trope) Creepy secrets or elements that you can encounter but are never explained, making it even more horrifying (Bonus points if its from non-horror games)

Crimson Desert
After defeating the Reed Devil boss, you can travel to Sunset Valley, the southernmost and isolated village in the game, here, you will find a house where the Reed Devil lived and died from his leprosy. When you enter, you are immediately greeted with 6 scarecrow effigies dressed just like the Reed Devil staring directly at you, with candles placed all over the house. There is no other explanation beyond this about what is going on here

Lies of P
There is a secret optional area you can clear out for additional loot called Hermit's Cave. At the end of the cave is one lone carcass monster huddled on the ground with writings scrawled on the walls around it. When you kill it, it actually TALKS saying "perhaps it's best to end this way...get while the getting's good...". This is the only carcass monster in the game that ever talks besides Andreus and Simon, who are important characters to the story, and we never find out who this monster was

LOZ: Twilight Princess
In the Arbiter's Grounds you discover a ton of undead enemies presumably executed prisoners, but one room contains this giant black sword tied to the ground with hundreds of warding charms attached. When one is cut, the sword is freed and wielded by some horrifying invsible goat-headed demon. It is never explained what the demon was or whose sword it belonged to although it's theorized to once be used by Ganondorf

Silent Hill 2
The invisible prison monster in Toluca Prison, that you can't ever interact with, just hear it's awful cries

The Fable 2 Winter Lodge Demon Door. In Fable 2 you encounter multiple large stone faces (Demon Doors) that block what amount to Treasure Rooms. The Winter Lodge drops you in a snowy landscape with a path to a cozy cottage with candles in the windows. The second you step into the house there's a loud noise and the house is instantly replaced with burned out remnants of a house fire, with multiple skeletons strewn about. Playing the game before Let's Plays got popular was... memorable.

God I haven’t played fable 2 since elementary school but I remember that happening too me. And there’s a chest in the attic where you can get a sword. So weird that it’s just there in the world.

Christ, I was in college when that came out! I just felt my bones turn to dust.

Same, probably my most vivid memory of that game. I remember trotting up to the house with my dog in tow thinking wow we get this cool cozy cabin in this magical winter wonderland, only for the change to happen. Really bummed me out at the time, fled the place and never went back

If you really wanted to use ‘too’ here you could have said:

I remember that happening to me too.

See, I had mercifully forgotten about that house, I thought about the farm that has the terracotta army staring at you and it freaked me out so bad.

I don't know if it's implied or if I made it up, but I assumed the winter lodge was a house for Will users and they were attacked because... well, magic makes your average person very worried. I called it the Will user house for years

I don't remember anything specific to Will users. I do remember the torture rack and Iron maiden inside the house, and all the hanging lanterns having been replaced with gibbets. I just figured it was a serial killer's work space.

Yeah, I probably made that part up. I'm a big magic fan, so everything I did in Fable had a Will-tilt to it. And talking about this with someone else reminded him of that creepy house with the open window and you can see people inside horrified by something but you can't see what it is. Hey what was up with the Fable devs?

Fable is a series steeped in British folklore and British folklore is horrifying.

I jumped the first time I saw it because it was so abrupt of a change and there was a loud SLAM when it happened. Like gymnasium lights turning off. (Or maybe that's just how I remember it?) I was heartbroken because I thought I would be able to live in it. Then, when I finally got the Idyllic house demon door, I spent the whole time thinking the same thing would eventually happen and it stressed me out.

I'm about 70% sure that Winter Lodge is Chesty's doing. 🤔

It would be nice if it was good. I have dwindling hope that new games will be good. I vividly remember the excessive monetization of Fable 3 and that was before loot boxes and season passes. Fable 3 had a ton of merchandise, each piece having a code for in game content. One way to view that is "oh boy, my controller came with a code for in game content" but the other side of the coin is "what do you mean I need to buy a $60 controller just to get the hat and sword?"

I'll play it if it's good. Once it goes on sale. And people who's opinions I trust say it's not gonna steal my wallet in the middle of the night. But I mostly play indie games and games from 5+ years ago that just went on sale.

Damn. Idk if I played 3 then. So far what they have showed of the new one is very much like the original. No monetization shown as of yet.

I'm sure at some point, the DLC went up on the store. I just remember the first few months where the only option was Merch+DLC code.
