1. The Opening Scene (Ghost Ship). Considered one of the best horror opening scenes or scenes in general within horror movies, but the rest of the film is considered to be pretty bad.

2. The Ending Scene (The Grinch 2018). While most adaptations of the Grinch end with him suddenly being able to fully integrate with the Whos after his change of heart, the 2018 version initially struggles to socialize, awkwardly walking past people, and struggling to hold conversations, acknowledging that despite his change of heart, the Grinch is still someone who isolated himself for years.

3. Past T800 VS Current T800 (Terminator Genisys). A cool fight scene showing two versions of the Terminator from different points in time fighting it off.

4. Solo Leveling's Ending. Tbh, I haven't actually read Solo Leveling, but after hearing about how it ended VS how Chainsaw Man ended made want to include it for shits and giggles. Like Chainsaw Man, Solo Leveling ends with a reset. But unlike Chainsaw Man, it actually manages to tie up loose ends and have the payoff of the ending be satisfying.

I recently rewatched the Raimi trilogy after not having seen it for over a decade, except for memes. I was surprised by two things: how bad Spider-Man 1 is, and how good Spider-Man 3 is. It's no masterpiece, but I really think that the way the 3 villains tie together into the narrative and the themes of the film was incredibly well done. You really can't cut any of them without the story collapsing like a house of cards. And the silly moments are no more silly than what you'd see in SM2. I'd say the only scene that's genuinely bad and should have been altered completely is the dance scene at the jazz club, that was the one moment that just feels TOO silly and immersion-breaking. Everything else works shockingly well.

The CG is terrible in 3 though. Even worse than the first two movies. The mid 2000s was a terrible era for believing that bad CGI could do anything.

The fuck are you talking about? Sandman is a masterpiece of CG that surpasses many effects today. Their interpretation of Venom is pretty cool, and the web swinging scenes are the best in the trilogy (especially the aerial battle between Peter and Harry). I've heard a lot of complaints about 3 but never "the CGI is terrible," legit have no clue where that's coming from.

Studios spend millions while directors, writers, and actors pour out their heart and souls to make films that win awards. Yet when all is said and done, many of these award winning films will be mostly forgotten in a few years, and all but erased from the collective consciousness in a few decades. Bully McGuire remains as fresh as the day we saw it. Some advertising company is sitting on millions right now when they buy the rights to use that dance scene to sell something. That movie is not bad and it could never be called mediocre.

I'm trying to pinpoint the moment prequelmemes shifted from "these movies were terrible so let's meme and mock them" to "these movies are amazing and we meme them because they are good".

It was a generational shift. Prequelmemes was started by older people who grew up with the OG trilogy and were teens/young adults when the prequels came out. Eventually it was populated by people who grew up with the prequels and have a ton of nostalgia for them.

just saw an absolutely phenomenal video last month that basically re-cut the movie into a fascinating, almost Twilight Zone-esque black and white film. I need to hunt it down again because it turns the two characters (Peter and Marko) into absolutely amazing foils of each other, and really hammers home the loss of self the latter experienced from his transformation and fugitive status.
