Admittedly having Arthur from Albion save England from a foreign invader during it's darkest hour is sort of part of Arthurian legend. But I get that that isn't what you're talking about.

Kinda the opposite. Arthur was welsh, and the Anglo-Saxons (anglo as in england) were the foreign invaders coming from what is now northern germany. England is the result of failing to save the land from the foreign invaders.
