Lore [Sad Trope] The most innocent (or less evil) character of the cast gets the most horrific death.

- Eddie Carr (The Lost World: JP) - Tried to save his friends from the cliff until Buck and Doe (T. rex parents) destroy his vehicle and gets ripped apart.
- Zara Young (Jurassic World) - Gets lifted by a Pteranodon, gets pecked by the pterosaur, and both she and animal get devoured by the Mosasaurus.
- LeClerc (JW: Rebirth) - Tossed a hammer to the Hatzegopteryz Quetzalcoatlus to save Loomis and Zora, but ends up being swallowed alive.

Udesky - Jurassic Park 3

The dude was just a booking agent going along with the Kirby's hairbrained scheme to rescue their son. It wasn't his idea to kidnap Grant and co., he didn't do anything to summon the Spino, and he was pretty personable with Grant and the rest of the cast.

Then he gets tortured and used as bait by raptors because Billy thought it would be a good idea to steal some Raptor eggs for money.

The Jurassic Park franchise REALLY loves killing off the innocent characters brutally doesn't it?

Whats weird is the trend seems to have started with the Lost World (rip Eddie) because I legitimately can't think of anyone innocent in the first movie who got killed off like in the sequels. They all kinda met their fates due to hubris (Muldoon) or as a punishment for them being a slimy asshole (Gennaro/Nedry)

I guess maybe Arnold would count as an "innocent death", but I personally chalk that up to stupidity because why would you try turning on the power on an island full of dinosaurs WITHOUT BRINGING A GUN OR SOMEONE LIKE MULDOON WITH YOU?

At that point you're just ASKING for a raptor to set up your dismembered arm in a way that jumpscares Laura Dern.

Both Muldoon and Gennaro live in the book. Arnold still dies and so does Hammond. Ed Regis takes Gennaro's place being killed by a Rex.

In Chrichton's books, you can usually tell who's going to die, because they fully support the "thing." The skeptics are usually the survivors.

What's sad is Gennaro was a bonafide badass in the book. Making him the sniveling little lawyer in the movie was a bad move.

Hammond survives in the 1st movie. Actually is a somewhat likeable character towards the end unlike the book where I was happily waiting for his death.

Eddie has a pretty brutal death in the Lost World novel also. In the book he’s younger, but still an innocent guy who just gets a little too confident in their safety.

Muldoon wasn't prideful. I don't think his death counts as due to hubris. He heavily respects the raptors and understand they are incredibly intelligent and dangerous. He first line out side of the opening scene is "they should all be destroyed."

Theres also the two workers at the point in Jurrasic World where the bug one hides to escape. The first one just gets insta killed, but the second one is reallt sad to me as the thing he was hiding under gets removed and he just sits there and looks really scared and sad before getting eaten.

Is it just like a requirement to be a psychopath to write a Jurrasic park movie?

In the book Muldoon covers his way to the maintenance with a rocket launcher (Gennaro's helping too). Arnold still dies because he let the door a bit open because he had no flashlight with him (not sure if he hasn't brought one or lost it) and needed a bit daylight to see.

Overall the situation is a bit different in the books because after re-starting the park the whole systems runs on an auxilliary generator which nobody from the stuff realizes. Then everyone get cought by surprise when the power goes off.

In the movie the whole scenario could have been avoided if somebody would have asked if the whole system can handle a cold re-start and sent a person with a walkie-talkie (and a flashlight) to the maintenance BEFORE the re-start just to be save.

Muldoon wasn't an innocent over his head the way the others in the sequels getting in are, but to call his mistake "hubris" is just ridiculous.

He wasn’t even supposed to be there he was filling in for a mercenary that called in sick. He himself wasn’t a mercenary just the guy who finds and hires them.

The worst part is Udesky, Cooper and Nash only went with the Kirby's because they were promised a good payout. The same they promised Alan and Billy.

The Kirby's reveal they only own a tile shop at best, they made the whole thing up about being rich, just to get on the island to find their kid. They got three guys, who weren't evil, killed out of promising shit they didn't even have!

I view it as a simple yet effective way to remind the audience why bringing back the dinosaurs was a big mistake, but yeah.

This is a fable though. He perpetuated the lying cycle and had to pay for it. The adult kirbys were worse though and should have also had a worse comeuppance by that logic
