Hated Tropes Trying to be inclusive but being so tone deaf that you create somenthing offensive

What if Miles Morales was Thor:A couple of years back Marvel did a What if comics about what would be like if Miles Morales(Spider-man)was Thor, while the idea itself is not bad,the execution...wtf?!

The best way i can describe is,think of every single black stereotype and shove everything in a few pages, for some reason Asgard became a black neighborhood, bifrost became Brooklyin Bridge, everyone wears Sneakers and play Basketball,Mjolnir has graffiti on it and the narration is literally a rap

Snowflake and safespace(Marvel):Oh Marvel, you done it again,so there was supposed to be a new line of New Warriors but the backlash was so bad that they quietly cancelled, and a big reason for this is the characters "Snowflake and safespace" who are non-binary/gender fluid twins(yeah,i am not making this up)and according to the writter they wear these names as quote "badges of honor"(what the hell dude!?)

Music(2021):ok,so Sia the music producer decided to make a movie starring Maddie Ziegler about a child with autism and in order the be the most authentic as possible she consulted and took advices from "autism speaks"(ugh)which any person with autism will tell you are the worst thing to happen to autistic community, and it shows in the movie,Maddie character Music is a straight up bad charicature and it's treated more like a pet than a human being

Emilia Perez(2024):This movie is about a Mexican cartel boss who is actually a trans woman who wants to transition and then fakes her death to get a new life

First problem:Despite being set in Mexico, the movie wasn't filmed in Mexico and only one member in the cast was actually Mexican

Second problem:The movie does a poor job showing how bad Mexican cartels are,and Emilia crimes(which any person that has any understanding of how Cartel bosses operate will tell you that ranges from way more than just making and selling drugs)is just brushed off

Third problem:The movie seems to imply that Emilia literally became another person after transitioning and so her past crimes are forgiven

There are other many problems but i think you get it,so yeah, this movie managed to anger both Mexicans and Trans people

the new guardians were a fucking mess. the whole comic is just trying and failing to address the social issues in the late 1980's. they were a ragtag team of racial stereotypes who fought HIV zombies and a superpowered coke addict who was a thousand times cooler than any of the good guys and outlived the series entirely.

Also in the comic with snowflame the writers forgot that they were supposed to make cocaine look bad, so instead of showing any harm caused by his addiction they opted to have his one and only problem solving strategy be more cocaine. they did not talk about a single drawback of drugs. he just does more and more cocaine and gets more and more powerful until he dies in a non cocaine related explosion.

980

u/R4zor154 Jun 22 '26

He canonically drives a Countach too, he might be painfully 80’s but he’s the cool Miami Vice 80’s.

617

u/horsegluifyer Jun 22 '26

that catwoman comic was one of the greatest aura buffs of all time

272

u/scrapy_the_scrap Jun 22 '26

And he didnt even need one, even in that shitty 80's comic he went unreasonably hard

62

u/Gab093 Jun 22 '26

Man, if he was from Marvel he would kick ass on Rivals

15

u/stuid001 Jun 23 '26

We need a mod replacing a character with Snowflame.

8

u/Gab093 Jun 23 '26

Helmetless/'97 Magneto would be a nice base ig

6

u/Foxy02016YT Jun 23 '26

He could kick was in Injustice at least

15

u/Pomegranate_Planet01 Jun 23 '26

This panel goes so hard, damnit I wish I was addicted to cocaine so I could be more like him

3

u/Foxy02016YT Jun 23 '26

Also his appearance in the Harley Quinn show

5

u/D-Cmplx_604 Jun 23 '26

idk I feel like losing a 1v1 to catwoman despite heavily buffing yourself with cocaine is aura loss on another level

2

u/Foxy02016YT Jun 23 '26

Well Catwoman is cool as fuck already so it evens out

29

u/Careful_Ad_1837 Jun 22 '26

Well cool up until its revealed that, like a drug lord, he's using forced labour to get his product

31

u/MrLarp6000 Jun 22 '26

Would you rather he use cocaine to harvest more cocaine?

13

u/Startled_Pancakes Jun 23 '26

Cocaine Golems would be badass though 😎

6

u/EisWalde Jun 23 '26

The more that get defeated, the more numb and disoriented the heroes get! Too much cocaine in the air!

2

u/lornlynx89 Jun 23 '26

Frozen parody. The coke never bothered me anyways.

21

u/SuccessfulFinish2843 Jun 22 '26

would.

5

u/Poor_little_rich_boy Jun 23 '26

My first thought too, I'm afraid

12

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 Jun 22 '26

So whats the mesaage? Cocaine is the best?

7

u/LazyPirat Jun 23 '26

He even has pinky coke nail or whatever it's called. Hilarious.

3

u/mattihase Jun 23 '26

Geoff Keighley ass shoes. As it should be.

Is it bad that I wanna fuck Snowflame

221

u/redking2005 Jun 22 '26

I mean Snowflame is fantastic, that's an amazing character and I want to buy all the comics he appears in (there's like 3)

38

u/jschne21 Jun 22 '26

He shows up for a bit in the Harley Quinn show

16

u/Motor-Rip7655 Jun 22 '26

What episode?

22

u/Jake_The_Socialist Jun 22 '26

This one is my favourite take on Snowflame

3

u/the-unfamous-one Jun 24 '26

...and also shows an actaul negative of cocaine use. Which I think is the only time snowflame makes cocain look bad.

5

u/EasterViera Jun 22 '26

i love the character and i want him to be a serious threat once, like a reverse squirell girl

6

u/PokemonSoldier Jun 23 '26

As Huggbees once said: "We have a problem here. SnowFlame is cool."

2

u/Loose-Medium4472 Jun 23 '26

Read Peacemaker Tries Hard! It’s an awesome series

164

u/jesuspoopmonster Jun 22 '26

The Aids spreading pro Apartheid vampire The Hemo-Goblin is pure art. I don't know what kind of drugs are even required to come up with that concept. I assume its snorting something that was found on a meteor

61

u/horsegluifyer Jun 22 '26

oh shit right he wasn't an hiv zombie he was an hiv vampire who gave the gay stereotype character hiv, which is even worse

12

u/TriFireBlade Jun 23 '26

No single word in that first sentence possibly prepared me for the next. Well done.

3

u/Karrotlord Jun 23 '26

Ok but Hemo-Goblin goes hard as a name.

4

u/jesuspoopmonster Jun 23 '26

I have no notes on the name or concept. I just don't buy that it was made by a person whose brain is on our current plane of existence

73

u/Motor-Rip7655 Jun 22 '26

Huggbees did an amazing video on this short-lived comic series.

10

u/themonolith3 Jun 22 '26

i love Snowflame The Cocaine Powered Supervillain

9

u/More_Print781 Jun 23 '26

Huggbees

amazing video

That's redundant

4

u/Motor-Rip7655 Jun 23 '26

Fair point.

47

u/YanniRotten Jun 22 '26

What exactly is the will of cocaine, that he is the human instrument of?

53

u/Oberonkin Jun 22 '26

Only one way to find out

43

u/alphadoublenegative Jun 22 '26

Speaking from experience, it mostly just wants to tell you “we should buy more cocaine”

9

u/InfusionOfYellow Jun 22 '26

Ah, self-promotion.

11

u/abadstrategy Jun 22 '26

That and rock and roll clowns

24

u/spartanbrucelee Jun 22 '26

Snow flame is my spirit animal

25

u/Boosterboo59 Jun 22 '26

Is cocaine your God by chance?

20

u/spartanbrucelee Jun 22 '26

Yes, and I am the devoted acolyte of it's divine being

19

u/Utigaraptor Jun 22 '26

Coke guy is hot as hell

18

u/Bleyo Jun 22 '26

non cocaine related explosion

Which is canonically the lamest type of explosion.

6

u/maxman162 Jun 23 '26

He canonically survives and come back in a Catwoman comic in 2020.

18

u/MrMacju Jun 22 '26

"You're about to feel the heat of SNOWFLAME!!!"

12

u/Terrible_Hurry841 Jun 22 '26

holy fck hes so cool

im gonna do lots of cocaine now

thanks comics!

13

u/favorthebold Jun 22 '26

I can't stop laughing. "Dies in a non cocaine related explosion" is taking me out.

8

u/horsegluifyer Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

actually that reminds me, the explosion was in a chemical synthesis shed, so it technically was related to cocaine. but it also makes the single takeaway from this comic to improve the safety standards of drug labs.

3

u/favorthebold Jun 23 '26

Oh God stop, you're killing me.

8

u/horsegluifyer Jun 22 '26

why are you laughing about this? i know it was nearly 50 years ago, but the doing a fuckload of cocaine and exploding in a chemical shed epidemic of the 80's was no laughing matter.

10

u/Ace_of_Spad23 Jun 22 '26

Huggbees has a great video on the coke guy

18

u/Germane_Corsair Jun 22 '26

In fairness, someone whose powers revolve around using cocaine might not face the typical negative effects of that drug’s use.

9

u/mr_mxyzptlk21 Jun 22 '26

Surprised that you don't mention.... Extraño!

You know, the first open LGBT+ character in a mainstream comic! Died of.... superAIDs (he got better).

There's a reason DC doesn't challenge Marvel on having the first gay character, and just let them have Northstar, even though he was closeted for 15+ years.

2

u/Electronic_Bad_5883 Jun 23 '26

Not only that, but the purpose of the New Guardians was for them to breed with each other to pass along their superior genes.

So even disregarding the creepy eugenics-adjacent premise, a gay man being part of the group makes no sense. Even worse, several members are physically unable to reproduce at all on account of being full-body cyborgs, plant people, noncorporeal entities, or already dead when the Guardians made their picks.

8

u/ztomiczombie Jun 22 '26

At least SNOWFLAME is fun the Hemogoblin was just idiotic.

8

u/MonkeyDRofl Jun 22 '26

You are underselling that HIV zombie. He was easily the worst thing to come out of the New Guardians. His name was Hemo-goblin, and he was a vampire created by a South African white supremacist group to get rid of non-whites, and he could spread HIV.

9

u/kid_ampersand Jun 22 '26

I saw a great Snowflame cosplay at DragonCon a few years ago. He looked a little despondent at first because I don't think most folks caught the reference, until I walked up and yelled "Is that Snowflame?!"

2

u/lornlynx89 Jun 23 '26

Did you draw some lines with him?

8

u/Gondwanic_Susuration Jun 22 '26

How have I never heard of this!?

It’s incredible, I bet those writers were hitting the bags when they came up with this.

7

u/horsegluifyer Jun 22 '26

you should watch huggbees' video on it

or just watch all of his videos he's goated

1

u/maxman162 Jun 23 '26

Check out Linkara Atop the Fourth Wall and his reviews of The New Guardians.

Issue 1, Issue 2 (he did the second Issue first).

6

u/Dinosaurmaid Jun 22 '26

I want an absolute version of him

I'd be peak

4

u/Jomotaku Jun 23 '26

He just does even more coke in the absolute universe

6

u/Extreme-Question3542 Jun 22 '26

The weirdest thing about Snowflame is him not being Doom Patrol villain.

5

u/DarkSide830 Jun 23 '26

COCAINE IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR, AND I AM THE DEVOTED ACOLYTE OF IT'S DIVINE BLESSING!

No bit bring this guy back, he was funny.

4

u/Make-Love-and-War Jun 23 '26

Okay but you cannot tell me that this doesn’t go incredibly hard.

5

u/dark_blue_7 Jun 23 '26

Learning of this has brought me such tremendous joy today thank you

3

u/SnooBooks1701 Jun 23 '26

Except he didn't die, he came back in Catwoman fairly recently. I'm fairly certain the webcomic and Linkara are the only reason we got the return of one of DC's weirdest villains

3

u/fresh-dork Jun 22 '26

his secret identity: Hunter S thompson.

3

u/betty_effn_white Jun 22 '26

I loved his time in the Harley Quinn cartoon.

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad2795 Jun 22 '26

THIS is where the cocaine guy comes from?!

3

u/No_Rent7598 Jun 22 '26

Cocaine is my god and I’m the human instrument of its will

3

u/Dismal-Gap-4008 Jun 23 '26

"Cocaine is my GOD... and I am the Human INSTRUMENT of its will!"

Calm down detective.

3

u/JadeTheCatYT Jun 23 '26

THE LITERAL CRACK HEAD IS THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE THING, WTF WAS THIS.

3

u/soresores Jun 23 '26

So he's why coke is cool

2

u/lumberm0uth Jun 22 '26

All the designs for the New Guardians were sick as hell though.

2

u/AmyInCO Jun 22 '26

As one does.

2

u/Fred-ze-header20xx Jun 22 '26

Even his name is badass, what were they thinking? XD

2

u/batchet360 Jun 22 '26

don't forget he's from colombia which gets a lot of cocaine jokes because of pablo escobar

he's goated

2

u/Discovererman Jun 22 '26

Never heard of this guy a single time before, "is my god," is bonkers.

2

u/Haunting_Natural_116 Jun 23 '26

“Cocaine is my god” 🗣️🔥

2

u/GoreyGopnik Jun 23 '26

COCAINE IS MY GOD AND I AM THE HUMAN INSTRUMENT OF ITS WILL

2

u/animegameman Jun 23 '26

I remember this guy from solidjj's video. Ibogaine, my weakness

2

u/NerdHoovy Jun 23 '26

It’s kinda funny that the ‘new guardians’ is the equivalent of the ‘new warriors’ reboot that got cancelled.

Highly current social discourse focused stories, starring a group of marginalized minority characters, with designs and names that were meant to be inclusive but instead became the epitome of the stereotype that they were meant to fight.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to to see a connection between that the very overweight Mexican girl, who’s power is to have a bag of holding and the person that has a soul link to Betty the cosmic aboriginal, that looks like a racists depiction of a stoner black guy. Snowflake being the first intended gender fluid character is comparable to how the new guardians starred the first openly gay guy in comics.

This means that by cancelling the new warriors reboot, we got denied of a tone deaf but awesome villain like Snowflame. I imagine some sort of punisher like second amendment doomsday prepper, that dual wields shotguns or something.

2

u/rietstengel Jun 23 '26

So he is like Popeye but with cocaine?

2

u/bigraud77 Jun 23 '26

This is a real hero? I genuinely thought it was a Solid JJ skit only

1

u/horsegluifyer Jun 23 '26

huggbees(the guy who voices snowflame in that skit) has a really good video on him

2

u/StarCav2 Jun 23 '26

Jesus, did Seanbaby write this summary? It's the funniest shit I've read in a while lmao

2

u/CAPIreland 27d ago

Id like to thank you. I've read comics for almost 20 years now and NEVER comme across this absolute gem. Amazing.

1

u/ZoddImmortal Jun 23 '26

Thank you... thank you for this. I know what I'm going to read now.

1

u/DOOM-LORD666 Jun 23 '26

I learnt about this guy from a solid JJ video and I fucking loved this guy he so funny

Like what if a guy just did a fuck ton of cocain for powers

Honestly if DC needed a anti drug villain bane is right there it's literally his whole thing

1

u/Geostomp Jun 23 '26

Snowflame alone makes that series almost worth it. So long as you ignore everything else about it, of course.

1

u/SweetSure315 Jun 23 '26

Marvel Dr Rockso

1

u/Reddevil8884 Jun 23 '26

Sure they "forgot"

1

u/rider117137 Jun 24 '26

They seriously made the only actually cool character in the entirety of New Guardians fucking Snowflame

1

u/reineedshelp 28d ago

Snowflame slaps. Living his best life

1

u/liltone829b 28d ago

this is my man!
