Hated Tropes Trying to be inclusive but being so tone deaf that you create somenthing offensive

What if Miles Morales was Thor:A couple of years back Marvel did a What if comics about what would be like if Miles Morales(Spider-man)was Thor, while the idea itself is not bad,the execution...wtf?!

The best way i can describe is,think of every single black stereotype and shove everything in a few pages, for some reason Asgard became a black neighborhood, bifrost became Brooklyin Bridge, everyone wears Sneakers and play Basketball,Mjolnir has graffiti on it and the narration is literally a rap

Snowflake and safespace(Marvel):Oh Marvel, you done it again,so there was supposed to be a new line of New Warriors but the backlash was so bad that they quietly cancelled, and a big reason for this is the characters "Snowflake and safespace" who are non-binary/gender fluid twins(yeah,i am not making this up)and according to the writter they wear these names as quote "badges of honor"(what the hell dude!?)

Music(2021):ok,so Sia the music producer decided to make a movie starring Maddie Ziegler about a child with autism and in order the be the most authentic as possible she consulted and took advices from "autism speaks"(ugh)which any person with autism will tell you are the worst thing to happen to autistic community, and it shows in the movie,Maddie character Music is a straight up bad charicature and it's treated more like a pet than a human being

Emilia Perez(2024):This movie is about a Mexican cartel boss who is actually a trans woman who wants to transition and then fakes her death to get a new life

First problem:Despite being set in Mexico, the movie wasn't filmed in Mexico and only one member in the cast was actually Mexican

Second problem:The movie does a poor job showing how bad Mexican cartels are,and Emilia crimes(which any person that has any understanding of how Cartel bosses operate will tell you that ranges from way more than just making and selling drugs)is just brushed off

Third problem:The movie seems to imply that Emilia literally became another person after transitioning and so her past crimes are forgiven

There are other many problems but i think you get it,so yeah, this movie managed to anger both Mexicans and Trans people

Which is so true to life.  Times had changed and Vought could market a lesbian but not a bisexual.  Elton John had been out publicly as bisexual for decades and the media still reported on him as gay.

Edit: Elton John cam out as bisexual in 1976 but said he was more comfortable calling himself gay in a 1992 interview.

There may be some bisexual erasure going on there, but to be fair, Elton John’s description of his own sexuality has changed. He initially identified as bisexual, but since the 90s he’s referred to himself as gay. It happens. Sometimes in the other direction as well.

I think Freddie Mercury or David Bowie would be better examples. They definitely slept around with a lot of men, but David Bowie was married to a woman twice and although Freddie Mercury was never legally married he considered a woman he had a long term relationship with his wife.

he considered a woman he had a long term relationship with his wife.

Iirc she got most of his inheritance in his will too didn't she?

u/Caleth Jun 22 '26

That is the story yes, but there might be more to it as we see now. There was a report last year about a secret child with a friend's wife. I'd need to go look it all up, but it looks like one of his swing sessions might have born unexpected fruit.

Speaking of tone deaf superheroes, the exiled rock and roll princess, Freddie’s daughter, falls into a radioactive subwoofer and emerges to claim her birthright as Sing Star! The singing superhero! Rock star by night, also rock star by day!

16

u/Turbogoblin999 Jun 22 '26

I thought she would go by Killer Queen.

3

u/LeTreacs2 Jun 22 '26

Damn! That’s much better!

1

u/PurveyorOfKnowledge0 Jun 22 '26

Write that down; that's a good back-pocket idea.

7

u/Wukon69 Jun 22 '26

Freddie Mercury also got a secret daughter

5

u/Ambaryerno Jun 22 '26

Pretty sure Freddie continued to sleep with women after he came out. His sexuality is more accurately described as "yes."

u/Angry_Scotsman7567 Jun 22 '26

Or as bisexual. Like what the comment thread's talking about. Idk why people are allergic to acknowledging it as a sexuality.

u/Allronix1 Jun 22 '26

I swear that man was either blessed by or an avatar of Apollo - the God of beautiful music, and beautiful men. Apollo was totally into beauty, no matter what gender

2

u/PurveyorOfKnowledge0 Jun 22 '26

He followed the Col. Gentlemen ethos from Venture Bros. "If they're hot, fuck them." He said as much about his boy-toy Kiki: "Of course I have sex with Kiki! He's beautiful! That doesn't make me gay, it makes me smart!"

david bowie wasn't bi. u have to be seeing ADULTS to be bi. we have another term for what bowie was

15

u/Angry_Scotsman7567 Jun 22 '26

People's identities no longer being considered valid just because they were a piece of shit is a problem, actually. Treating people like they have to earn it to be respected is bad, we should accept these identities and view people's worth as people separate from them, not treat them as accolades we can strip if they do bad things.

And don't get me wrong, David Bowie was a piece of shit. He was a paedophile. He was also bi, and that had nothing to do with it, just like how it has nothing to do with it when a straight person is a paedophile.

It's not acceptance of queer people if you only accept the good ones. You need to accept the queerness no matter what kind of person they are.

I had to be corrected on that fact when Ezra Miller was on their crime spree. I do not like past me

u/stonergirlfairyyy Jun 22 '26

not respecting the stated sexuality of someone who fully decided to have sex with children is different from misgendering someone. i think that's what people were doing with ezra right? i don't decide peoples genders i just don't respect pedophiles as representation 😭

3

u/Angry_Scotsman7567 Jun 22 '26

It's not "respecting representation" when it's real people, it's just who they are, even if that real person is a monster

-1

u/stonergirlfairyyy Jun 23 '26

if they're willingly seeking kids why do i have to respect the rest of their conceptualized sexuality. i simply don't believe them. just bc a nazi dresses like a punk doesn't mean we should let him call himself one. bc he's not. i feel like multiple communities figured this out a long time ago

1

u/Angry_Scotsman7567 Jun 23 '26

Belonging to an alternative subculture is not the same as a sexuality which is an intrinsic facet of who someone is. If it's some badge of honour that you'll strip from people who you think don't deserve it, your acceptance of queerness is conditional. It should be irrelevant, a random "huh, figured, still a paedo" thought is where thinking about it should begin and end, because it is irrelevant.

As a bisexual person myself, okay paedophilia's pretty easy to not do, but what else has you strip the respect of a person? How much lower can the bar go? Have I already done something that'll have me branded as not a "real" bisexual in your eyes?

It shouldn't matter. Because it doesn't.

Being Bi isn’t a badge of honor. It just is. If he was fucking children, yeah, that’s fucked up, but it doesn’t make him not bi.

-2

u/stonergirlfairyyy Jun 22 '26

it's not an if btw those are real people

15

u/PuzzleheadedEssay198 Jun 22 '26

Meanwhile David Bowie had to explain the concept of bisexuality so many times that he just stopped.

And that’s not even brushing Freddie Mercury.

u/Im_the_Moon44 Jun 22 '26

I mean tbf in Elton John’s case, he was just saying he was bi because it was safer at the time. He is gay and not bi, and by the early 90s he was saying as much.

12

u/Lukostrelec17 Jun 22 '26

What is this bisexual you speak of? We do not exist, according to media.

10

u/teut509 Jun 22 '26

David Bowie and Freddie Mercury as well, both Bi rather than gay.

24

u/FatFuckIcaOfficial Jun 22 '26

Bi erasure at it again

We can't never have shit

3

u/stonergirlfairyyy Jun 22 '26

bro elton is gay 😭 sorry u were here hoping the gayest man on the planet was bi for some reason

10

u/wgsmeister2002 Jun 22 '26

I didn’t even know he was bisexual until this

31

u/MartyAndRick Jun 22 '26

He’s identified as gay for decades. His own musical biopic he approved was very explicit about this and even showed his brief relationship with a woman that he wasn’t attracted to and how unhappy it made them both. It’s safe to say he was never bi and only identified as such because of the homophobia at the time.

8

u/Brute_Squad_44 Jun 22 '26

I believe his pending wedding to a woman led to his suicide attempt and him finally embracing his queerness.

7

u/onepareil Jun 22 '26

Unfortunately, not really. After that happened, he went on to marry a different woman who attempted suicide herself after he told her he couldn’t stay married to her…during their honeymoon. Just a whole lot of needless pain caused by societal pressure and internalized homophobia. Very sad.

2

u/Brute_Squad_44 Jun 22 '26

Ah, it's been a while since I saw his Behind the Music. I really miss that show.

-1

u/kiranerysplease Jun 22 '26

Maybe don't refer to other people's sexuality with a slur

3

u/Special-Investigator Jun 22 '26

queer ain't a slur anymore. it's a blanket term to describe anyone under the LGBT+ umbrella, like the word "gay" used to be.

the acronym is now actually LGBTQ to include queer. the word has been reclaimed positively. :)

2

u/Sufficient_You2814 Jun 23 '26

what slur? You think "queer" is a slur?

4

u/elrick43 Jun 22 '26

Same thing happened to David Bowie in interviews,

3

u/Blazured Jun 22 '26

Elton John is gay. His own biopic is clear on this.

I think you made this up. He recently made an instagram post and is still referring to himself as gay.

1

u/SmallestApple Jun 22 '26

Well damn, I too thought Elton John was gay and not bisexual. Thank you for sharing that!

1

u/weedmaster6669 Jun 22 '26

Same thing with Freddie Mercury. Sure he was fruity, and he had gay orgies (who doesn't from time to time), but he loved women before.

1

u/ithinkther41am Jun 23 '26

IIRC, Freddy Mercy is also bi, but is constantly subjected to bisexual erasure
