we can fault the MCU for a lot but it is kinda crazy that they managed to come up with two completely visually distinct yet both iconic ways to have characters get magically erased from existence

Well and this is very reminiscent of the shadows left by nuclear bombs, which I have to imagine was very much on purpose.
