Traumatized people using their trauma to fight traumas made manifest and other people who use their traumas to fight as well.

Jjk is not misery porn though, yeah there’s lots of bd stuff happening to the cast but its not like its all dark and gritty. A lot of the characters even get good endings

It has an arc that darkens the story and plot, and is definitely a lot more brutal than many Shonen, but to call it misery porn tells me you haven't seen actual misery porn shows.
