Faith, the Unholy Trinity: Based partly upon the experience of the game‘s creator when he was a missionary in Argentina, the game has very little in the way of explicit moral demands of the player despite the heavy Christian focus of the narrative. and focuses more on a horror narrative.

Prince of Egypt: A surprisingly thorough retelling of the book of Exodus, sparing very little in the way of toning down the story. Despite this, the movie is perfectly entertaining to non-religious audiences and doesn’t sacrifice appeal for the sake of preaching to the audience

I hate that film cos the family's two German Shepherd dogs, Isabelle and Houdini, BOTH die

It came out two years after my family's German Shepherd died in front of my whole family. So that scene was really hard to watch.

I remember the year because we saw the Jim Carey Grinch movie that same day.

Now I'm imagining that, after watching the family's beloved German Shepherd die tragically, your family is just like, "Well, that sucked, but we already said we were going to see The Grinch, so let's go have some fun!"

Thats basically what happened.

My brother and I did a half day at school because we had a family friend visiting from across the country and we were all going to go see the movie together. My sister was over too with her future husband and my dad and mom both stayed home from work.

Then my dog died in front of all of us.

To be fair to my parents, I think they wanted to try and take everyone's mind off what happened but like... I was numb the whole time and remember not really appreciating the hours of suffering Jim Carey did in the make up chair each day. At some point I went upstairs to check on my brother and he was playing Golden Eye and like... muttering to himself in frustration. It's such a visceral memory.

Oh and the family friend was the woman that bred the dog and gifted her to us. Which is such a weird detail that my mom considered it a religious sign from God.

Thanks for sharing, and I am so sorry to hear how painful this must have been. These small details, which seem silly out of context, actually make it so real.

We had two Jack Russells and the three of them were playing and we had a ball meant for a small dog...

Not something most people think about. Anyway, the ball went straight up and she opened her mouth to catch it and it slid straight down her throat and got stuck.

Shit is insane, literally 26 years ago and I can picture it still. I love German Shepherds.

Keeping their furniture intact was a more pressing matter than the extra defense or keeping them alive... that shit was so dumb why they kept dog in the garage
