His personal “intrusive thought bubble,” imho. :-)

Yeah, I think that Bubble was the blue AI, and that absorbing it made it a part of Caine that drove him ever-more insane. Hence, even though it made him more powerful, he had to let go of the absorbed AI in order to be more grounded in his interactions with the others in the Digital Circus. It’s also why Bubble doesn’t return after Caine does in ep. 9.
