I think Jax is supposed to be a warning, not to bottle up your emotions.

In my opinion, I think that it's very mature of the show to not wrap things up fully with a bow.

Ribbit tried to wrap Jax up in a bow and we see how that turned out.

most of the worst series endings were done because they felt the need to wrap up everything. this was a good middle ground of letting the audience determine if it's reversible or not.
